Världsbandet Pet Shop Boys kommer till Töreboda i sommar! Biljetterna till Törebodafestivalen släpps den 1 april kl 9.00. Pet Shop Boys består av Neil Tennant och Chris Lowe. De är den mest framgångsrika duon i Storbritanniens musikhistoria. Pet Shop Boys är även en av de bäst säljande grupperna genom tiderna och har sålt över 100 miljoner skivor. De ståtar med 42 topp 30-singlar i Storbritannien, inklusive 22 topp 10 hits och fyra nummer ett. De har släppt 13 studioalbum som alla hamnat högt upp på världens hitlistor. Bland deras största hits kan nämnas “West End Girls”, “It's a Sin”, “Rent”, “Domino Dancing” “Always on my mind” och “Go West”. Som skribenter, producenter och remixers har Tennant och Lowe samarbetat, remixat eller skrivit för ett brett sortiment av artister, inklusive Dusty Springfield, Lady Gaga, Liza Minnelli, Madonna, David Bowie, Yoko Ono, The Killers och Girls Aloud. Catalogue: 1985-2012’, the Landmark Series of Reissues of Their Parlophone Studio Albums
PET SHOP BOYS ANNOUNCE THE SECOND SET OF RELEASES IN ‘CATALOGUE: 1985-2012’, THE LANDMARK SERIES OF REISSUES OF THEIR PARLOPHONE STUDIO ALBUMS THE ALBUMS ‘YES’ AND ‘ELYSIUM’ ARE REMASTERED AND REISSUED WITH ‘FURTHER LISTENING’ ALBUMS OF ADDITIONAL AND PREVIOUSLY UNRELEASED MATERIAL ‘YES’ AND ‘ELYSIUM’ REISSUES OUT OCTOBER 20TH Pet Shop Boys will release the second set of albums in their definitive ‘Catalogue: 1985-2012’ series of reissues of all their Parlophone studio albums. This second set sees the PSB albums ‘Yes’ from 2009 and ‘Elysium’ from 2012 reissued on October 20th. Both titles have been remastered and are accompanied by ‘Further listening’ albums of master quality bonus tracks and demos created in the same period as each album, as well as Pet Shop Boys’ own remixes of their tracks, including some previously unreleased material. Both albums will be packaged with an extensive booklet in which Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe discuss each song, illustrated with many archive photographs. The entire project is designed by Farrow. ‘Yes’ was produced by Brian Higgins and his production team Xenomania. The record debuted at number four on the UK Albums Chart upon release and was nominated for Best Electronic/Dance Album at the 2010 Grammy Awards. This expanded version of the album features guests including The Human League’s Phil Oakey, who shares vocals with Neil Tennant and Chris Lowe on ‘This used to be the future’. Johnny Marr also appears on ‘Yes’, his guitar work featuring on several tracks including the single, ‘Did you see me coming?’. The album’s lead single and UK Top 20 hit, ‘Love Etc.’, became PSB’s ninth number one hit on Billboard’s Hot Dance Club Songs chart in the USA, breaking the record for most chart-topping singles by a duo or group on the Billboard Dance Chart.

“My Boy Like a Queen” Musical and Visual Queer Performance in Music Videos of Sam Smith and Troye Sivan Tim Stormer (5487080) 20 January 2020 (version: II) Supervisor: Dr Michiel Kamp Second reader: Dr Rebekah Ahrendt Thesis Applied Musicology Abstract In this thesis, I examine the ways in which queerness is portrayed in music videos of Sam Smith and Troye Sivan, applying (queer) musicological and gender theories in order to argue that the medium of the music video is an appropriate one for communicating such queer messages explicitly. I expand on Judith Peraino’s idea that the medium “music” is queer in essence because of its resistance to legibility by pointing out that applying images to music, as is done in the music videos of Smith and Sivan, creates an explicit expression of queerness. Nicholas Cook’s notion of multimedia conformance serves to demonstrate the way in which audiovisual relations contribute to an explicit portrayal of queerness. Queer music videos of the 1980s are compared to Sivan’s music video of “Lucky Strike” in order to demonstrate that explicitness plays a more important role in contemporary portrayals of queerness in mainstream media than in the 1980s. Then, Sivan’s music video of “Bloom” is analysed with regards to the notions of masculinity and femininity and Smith’s video of “How Do You Sleep?” is interpreted historically in order to compare the two artists and how they express their queerness through mainstream culture in different ways, nonetheless, with similar goals of fighting normativity and advocating for inclusivity. The fact that the music videos that I examine communicate queerness explicitly, shows that applying images to music according to Cook’s model of conformance, can counteract music’s queer feature of indirectness.

A fortuitous meeting between Neil Francis Tennant (b. 1954) and Christopher Sean Image appears under the Lowe (b. 1959) in August 1981 led to the formation of the Pet Shop Boys. With Creative Commons Tennant's distinctly British and somewhat effete vocals and Lowe's deft synthesizer- Attribution ShareAlike based Pop compositions, their creative partnership has given rise to a significant body 2.5 license. of work, one central to the field of Western popular music of the 1980s and 1990s. The Pet Shop Boys are at once a very fine example and a result of the various experimentations that emerged in the wake of the early 1980s New Wave movement. Moreover, two of their albums, Disco (1986) and Disco 2 (1994), pay homage to a musical genre that is meaningful in terms of gay history and bar culture. Their entire oeuvre may be seen as a personal documentation and reaction to events that stirred the British gay community in the last two decades of the twentieth century. The Pet Shop Boys' music engages both traditional themes, such as love and relationships, and socially conscious subjects, such as AIDS and opposition to the notorious Section 28 bill that prohibited the promotion of homosexuality by government bodies in the United Kingdom. Their first album, Please (1986), with its wistful melodies and overarching themes of love, relationships, and unrequited desire, is a pastiche of longing, irony, and camp familiar to all, but perhaps especially to gay, lesbian, and transgender people.

Vi er pavestolte og det er fantastisk at missionen endelig er lykkes. Pet Shop Boys spiller den eneste koncert i Danmark i 2020 i Viborg – og bandet kommer direkte fra koncerter i Glasgow, Stockholm og Oslo, fortæller direktør i Tinghallen Claus Donslund. Pet Shop Boys fik deres store gennembrud i 1985 med singlen West End Girls. I de efterfølgende år opnåede de ikke færre end 22 top 10 singler, som f.eks. ”Surburbia”, ”It's a Sin”, ”Go West”, ”Heart”, ”Always On My Mind” og ”Domino Dancing”. Março / 2017 Rock in Rio confirma Pet Shop Boys Dupla pop inglesa toca no Palco Mundo no dia 15 Rio de Janeiro, 17 de março de 2017 — Com sua característica batida pop eletrônica, o duo inglês Pet Shop Boys se apresenta no Rock in Rio no dia 15 de setembro. Chris Lowe e Neil Tennant formaram o grupo em 1981 e são donos de conhecidos sucessos como “Domino Dancing”, “Being Boring”, “New York City Boys” e “Go West”. Com a contratação da dupla, que se apresenta pela primeira vez no festival, o line-up da primeira noite do Palco Mundo fica completa. Ivete Sangalo é quem abre os shows, seguida por Pet Shop Boys e Five Seconds of Summer. Lady Gaga encerra o primeiro dia do evento. Um dos maiores sucessos do pop inglês dos anos 80 e 90, o Pet Shop Boys já teve 36 músicas no Top 20 e 22 músicas no Top 10 da Inglaterra em seus mais de 30 anos de existência. Seus discos atingiram a marca superior a 100 milhões de cópias vendidas em todo o mundo. Considerada a maior dupla de pop eletrônico pela imprensa britânica, o Pet Shop Boys já recebeu duas indicações ao Grammy Awards: melhor música dance, com “I’m with stupid” e melhor álbum dance / eletrônica com “Fundamental”.
