Studio Wayne McGregor General Information Studio Wayne McGregor is located at Broadcast Centre, Here East, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, London E15 2GW. The Broadcast Centre is the large black and orange glass building. Enter via Atrium B (with a large B outside). Studio Wayne McGregor is on Level 2. Studio Wayne McGregor is home to McGregor, his company and collaborators, and an array of diverse artists who will take residence in the space through the FreeSpace programme. Our FreeSpace programme provides artists access to our world-class studios regardless of funding or stage of development. Information about the space Studio Wayne McGregor is a smoke-free environment. Ground floor - Studio 3, 16m x 16m x 5.6m / 3.6m to perimeter. - Guest dressing room and accessible toilets and shower (accessed through lobby) First floor - Dressing rooms for Company Wayne McGregor, treatment room, accessible showers and toilets - Archive Second floor - Studio 1, 18m x 16m x 5.6m / 3.6m to beams. (Same size as Sadler’s Wells stage) - Studio 2, (above dressing rooms), 7m x 13m x 4m - Office - Accessible toilet Gantry - External gantry terrace Accessibility - Accessible toilets and showers located on ground floor (through lobby) and first floor via elevator. Additional accessible toilet located on second floor next to Studio 2. - Accessible elevator allows visitors to access ground, first and second floors. - Ramped access to Studio 3. Entry to Studio Wayne McGregor - Fobs and lanyards will be provided for all company members for entry to the space. A £5 replacement fee applies if lost. Weight Restrictions - Maximum loading for Studios 1 & 3: Commercial and Corporate Hire (where dancing and rhythmic movement is to take place): people + 5,000kg set/staging + 5,000 of equipment. - The total occupancy for both Studio 1 + 3 should not exceed 200 people and 20,000kg of equipment. The occupancy of either studio should not exceed 80 people and 15,000kg of equipment. - Care should be taken to ensure that the staging and/or the equipment imposed load is less than 1kN/m2 (100 kg per square meter) - Maximum loading for Studio 2 – 3 kN/m2 Directions to Here East Find directions on Citymapper A free Here East shuttle bus runs between Here East, Stratford station and Stratford International station, every five minutes, weekdays 7am to 10:30pm. The buses are orange, green and white with Here East branding. The journey takes approx. 10 minutes. http://hereeast.com/find/directions/shuttle/ By Tube The nearest tube station is Stratford (Central, Jubilee), which is in travel zone 2/3. Step-free access is available from entrance to platform. The free shuttle bus service connects Stratford station and Here East. By Train Here East is also an approx. 10-minute walk from Hackney Wick Overground station. Stratford International station is serviced by the Docklands Light Railway (DLR), TFL Rail Services and the Southeastern high-speed line (HS1). HS1 connections offer a 7-minute journey to London St Pancras International station for connections with Eurostar. The free shuttle bus service connects Stratford International station and Here East. By Bus A number of bus routes are within a short walk of Here East. The 388 bus service stops directly outside the Broadcast Centre, Loughborough University entrance. By Bike The TFL Cycle Superhighway 2 provides a safe and simple route for cyclists travelling to Here East from across London. Here East provides an on-site Cycle Hub for over 450 bikes, a campus repair shop and participates in the TFL Santander Cycles bike-sharing scheme. By Car There is no public parking available at Here East. Here East can be easily reached by car via the A11, A12, A13, M11 and M25, with drop off and pick up points close by. Parking There is no public parking available at Here East. There are 4,500 car spaces available at Westfield Stratford City (fees apply). If travelling by car, it is generally recommended to park at Westfield and travel on the free shuttle bus to Here East. If you have special requirements please let us know when booking and special arrangements can be made. Airport Links There are a number of airport links available. London City Airport: Travel on DLR direct to Stratford International station. Here East is a 25- minute drive from London City Airport. Heathrow Airport: Travel on Heathrow Express airport rail link to Paddington, transfer to Circle line to King’s Cross station, walk to London St Pancras International Station (3 minutes) and travel on Southeastern high-speed line (HS1) to Stratford International station. Stanstead Airport: Travel on Stanstead Express airport rail link to Tottenham Hale, transfer to Victoria line and travel to Highbury & Islington, transfer to Overground train for Hackney Wick. Here East is an approx. 10-minute walk from Hackney Wick Overground station. Gatwick Airport: Travel on Thameslink train from Gatwick Airport railway station to London Bridge, transfer to Jubilee line for Stratford. Luton Airport: Travel on Thameslink train to Luton Airport Parkway station to Farringdon, transfer to Circle, Metropolitan or Hammersmith & City line and travel to Liverpool Street, transfer to Central line for Stratford. Southend Airport: Travel on Greater Anglia train direct from Southend Airport to Stratford. Map of Here East Transport Accommodation There are a number of accommodation options located in Stratford including Premier Inn, Holiday Inn, Travelodge Hotel, Hotel Ibis, and The Westbridge Hotel. Manhattan Loft Gardens design hotel will open in Stratford City in 2018. Food and drink Canalside at Here East features one-off coffee shops, street food and restaurants along the waterfront, including Shane’s on Canalside, The Breakfast Club, Gotto, Randy’s Wing Bar, Four Quarters, Mason & Company and Mother. Catering Studio Wayne McGregor does not provide catering on site. However, there are several options available from suppliers based at or near Here East who can be contacted directly: - BT Sport - Loughborough University - Canalside at Here East (see links under ‘Food and drink’) Studio Wayne McGregor - Company Wayne McGregor continues to tour around the world, and Wayne also makes work for other dance companies, feature films, music videos, TV and fashion shows, last year reaching audiences of over 200,000. - Wayne McGregor CBE is also Resident Choreographer at The Royal Ballet, Professor of Choreography at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance, and part of the Circle of Cultural Fellows at King’s College London. He has an Honorary Doctor of Science from Plymouth University and an Honorary Doctor of Letters from University of Leeds. - Our Learning and Engagement programme currently reaches up to 12,000 participants each year, and in total has reached over 90,000 participants worldwide. - Wayne mentors a wide variety of other artists, particularly a large number of emerging choreographers. At Studio Wayne McGregor we will expand this into a more formal mentoring programme for artists. - Following ten years of the R-Research programme, which culminated in the Thinking with the Body exhibition at Wellcome Collection in 2013, Wayne will continue his interest in collaborating with science and technology researchers through a programme called QuestLab.
