2017 Sporting Events in Moray (Mainly Jogging, Running, Orienteering and Triathlon Events) 2017 Sporting Events in Moray (mainly jogging, running, orienteering and triathlon events) Over recent years the Walk, Jog, Run Moray voluntary organisation have been concerned about the increase in the number of running type events taking place in the Moray and surrounding area which has resulted in clashes of events within the area which has impacted on participation numbers. The time and effort that goes into organising a sporting event is substantial and many of the organisers are volunteers therefore, in a bid to reduce the number of clashes of events in 2017 and ensure events are well supported which will help their sustainability in the future they have created a calendar for groups and the local community. Elgin parkrun event every Saturday at Cooper Park at 9.30am. Some of the Saturday Orienteering League dates may be removed from calendar as only provisional at present. Despite the harsh conditions, it has been nice to see that our members are finding ways to get in a workout. There have been a few days of reprieve and it is good to see our athletes enjoying these days. Your TGC leadership is hard at work preparing for the 2014 season. Chris Hicks and Gary Garza are moving swiftly on finalizing our club kit order. Our new look and design was popular, as we have seen a record amount of orders. We look forward to having these distributed in mid-March. Our Youth Race Director, Jim Hagy is busy orchestrating with the City, sponsors, traffic engineers, and community to make the Maritime de Luna Duathlon a premiere youth multisport event in NW Florida. Our Vice President, Alex Bell has been pounding away at our new TGC Bylaws and the necessary process to convert TGC to a 501c3 Tax Exempt status. Tom Henderson, Mere Mortals Chairman is already getting the permits for use of Casino Beach for each Mere Mortals session. Past Prez, Evan Malone, and TGC member Chris Rawson are coordinating the Xterra Wetsuit fitting for our athlete's in March. And yes, your current President, Mindi Straw, has already booked our 2014 End of Season Party! Plenty happening with the leadership, but of course it is the support of our TGC members that keep us motivated and moving forward.

    Ware Joggers Duathlon Race Rules – …and advice. The rules below may, for the novice, seem daunting. Please stick with it, read the whole document and it will all make sense. PLEASE DO NOT ASSUME YOU KNOW THE RULES! Competitors will compete in this Duathlon event comprising of a RUN (on grass), BIKE (on road) and RUN (on grass). You take part in the event entirely at your own risk. We cannot allow any accompanying dogs, unless for reasons of registered disability. Please ask well in advance. Thank you. Age Limits: Competitors must be 18 or over to enter and take part and must also be fully paid-up members of one of the clubs invited. A Duathlon is a competition that is composed of running and biking. The usual format for a Duathlon is run-bike-run, meaning you start with a run, then transition to the bike, then transition back to running again. Your time starts when you start the race, and finishes when you cross the finish line. This means that the time it takes you to switch from running to cycling and back again is part of your race time. Is everybody really good? Some people are, some aren't. Just like your local 5K, there is a group of hardcore athletes going for the win, there is a bunch of middle of the pack types, and there are some foundation racers.

    Obtaining a Permit to hold and Athletic Event or Meeting in Scotland 1 Scope of Permit Event organisers must be current affiliated members of scottishathletics. Existing organisers must have fully complied with the permitting process for previous events and be in good standing with scottishathletics and other National Governing Bodies. Only events, or components of events, operated under United Kingdom Athletics (UKA) rules are eligible for a permit. Therefore events including multi-sport (pentathlon, quadrathlon, triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon), orienteering, adventure racing, or events with obstacles (excluding hurdles), dogs, foam, dye, or lights as the core feature of the event fall outwith our remit and we cannot permit or insure them. It is essential that all event organisers carry out a risk assessment of all their events. To assist with this there are downloadable documents and guidelines to assist you on the scottishathletics website. There may be other hazards that could present a ‘risk’ to your event that you should identify clearly in your Risk Assessment. It is essential that you keep a copy of your completed Risk Assessment and permit form. scottishathletics does not require a copy of the completed Risk Assessment but reserves the right to request copies of Risk Assessments during the planning of the Event and conduct spot checks on Events. As far as possible permits will be issued in order to avoid clashes with other similar events. Attempts will be made to avoid conflict with similar events and scottishathletics championship dates. In such circumstances it may not be possible to grant a permit for the requested date.
