Im Winter verspricht die 4-Berge Skischaukel Winterspass pur auf und abseits der Piste. Neben dem klassischen Skifahren stehen weitere Wintererlebnisse wie Pistengerätefahren, Schlittenhundecamp, VIP-Heli-Skiing oder Tandemparagleiten auf dem Programm. Im Sommer kann man mittels Bike oder bei den un- zähligen Wandermöglichkeiten die grandiose Bergwelt erkunden. Welcome and Opening of the Meeting The Chairman, Bernhard Russi (SUI), welcomed all online present to the 90th meeting of the FIS Alpine Committee and extended his greetings to Gian Franco Kasper, FIS President, Sarah Lewis, FIS General Secretary, Council Members, as well as members of Working Groups. 2. Roll Call Janez Fleré (FIS) conducted the Roll Call. (see page 27) 3. Approval of the Agenda The Agenda, without additions or remarks, was unanimously approved. 4. Approval of the Minutes The Minutes of the 89th Meeting held in October 2019 in Zurich (SUI) were, without comments or remarks, unanimously approved. 5. Reports From Sarah Lewis FIS Secretary General She welcomes all members of the Alpine Committee, NSA representatives and thanked all organisers who suffered the damage of cancellation due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The main goal is to focus on the future and how to approach the next winter season with the correct solutions. She explained how important next season will be in order to safeguard the future of our sport and the World Cup and of course the World Championships. To find solutions to travel restrictions and event limitations for the organisers will be one of our tasks. The FIS Council will establish a task force that includes members of the National Ski Association organising nation, the respective local organising committee, broadcast- commercial rights holder, FIS Race Director and Management, Medical Committee representative, Alpine Committee Chair and Council member from the organising nation The slides show details of how FIS is working in finding solutions to organise the FIS World Cup 2020/21.

    HERITAGE SPORTING EVENTS AND PLACE MARKETING Jean-Loup CHAPPELET INTRODUCTION Over the last twenty years, many cities, regions and countries have introduced strategies and policies to systematically host sports events, and allocated human and financial resources to attract elite or mass-participation single-sport or multi- sport competitions (Chappelet 2006, Mantei 2011, Zakias 2014). Such policies have often been inspired by cities hosting a major event and then seeking ways of reusing facilities built at great cost for the occasion. An early example of this is Sheffield, in England, where a special unit of the council, set up after the city hosted the 1991 Universiades, has brought a whole series of events to the city (Henry 1999). Several urban centers in the UK have now copied this pioneering strategy, supported by the government body UK Sport. The culmination of these strategies was the attribution of the 2012 Olympic Games to London and of the 2014 Commonwealth Games to Glasgow. However, the 1990s saw a huge increase in the number of cities wishing to host major sports events, starting with the Olympics. Bids for the 1984 and 1988 Summer Olympics were received from only one (Los Angeles) and two (Seoul and Nagoya) cities, respectively. However, the organizational and financial success of Los Angeles 1984 and Seoul 1988 inspired many more cities to consider an Olympic future. As a result, six cities bid for the 1992 Games, awarded to Barcelona, eight cities bid for the 2002 Winter Olympics, awarded to Salt Lake City, and a record eleven cities bid for the 2004 Olympics, awarded to Athens.

    JUNGFRAUBAHN HOLDING AG 16 OUR RESPONSIBILITY 2016 For regional value creation INVESTMENTS IN WINTER SPORTS In the 2015/2016 and 2016/2017 seasons, Jungfrau Railways has invested more than CHF 5 million in winter sports. At the beginning of February 2016, the reigning Olympic champion Iouri Podladtchikov and the first half- pipe snowboard Olympic champion Gian Simmen opened the new half-pipe at Grindelwald-First. The 120 metre long, 5.6 metre high and up to 22 metre wide pipe is currently the only one in the entire Bernese Oberland. In the Grindelwald-Wengen ski area in the 2016/2017 season, the power of the snowmaking equipment for the ski run as well as the slalom slope of the Lauberhorn Ski Races has been increased. For this purpose, new snow- makers have been procured, a cooling tower built and the pumping power increased. Jungfrau Railways have contributed 1 million towards the overall costs of 2.5 million Swiss francs. In addition, a further section with snowmaking technology has been developed, so that the valley piste to Wengen can be covered in snow throughout this season.
