The application site is located immediately south west of Burton upon Trent, East Staffordshire. The site itself is situated in South Derbyshire. Most are now occupied, and Countryside Properties is bringing forward plans for the wider development of the site. 0800 298 7040 www.regeneratingdrakelow.co.uk 5 Countryside | Drakelow, Burton-on-Trent Proposals Masterplan This next phase of development will see us create c.1,000 new homes as part of a wider plan to deliver over 2,000 new homes in subsequent phases, alongside investment in infrastructure and amenities to create a new neighbourhood, helping to meet local housing demand. Further to this, the proposed open space, retirement village, primary school, public open space, and a new local centre – being delivered in the next phase of work – will support further employment and help to support a new community at the site. Indicative local centre As part of Countryside’s proposals for Drakelow, later phases will see the construction of a primary school, which will become part of the heart of the development alongside the Local Centre. The school will sit alongside other amenities, such as a shop and the retirement village. We have been in conversation with an educational construction group to bring forward these plans and are currently working towards a two- form entry primary school that will cater for 120 pupils prior to the occupation of 600 dwellings. We aim to ensure Drakelow Park is accessible to all new residents and employees, ensuring it is well connected with adjoining residential districts and Walton Road Burton town centre. The ease of public transport will enhance the lifestyles of those living and working on the site and will encourage a cleaner and safer environment. A bus route will be delivered to connect the eastern and western development areas via their respective local centres. This route will connect with an improved high quality bus route between Drakelow Park and Burton town centre. A comprehensive network of footpaths, cycleways and woodland walks within the site will be delivered and will connect the site to existing routes surrounding the site. This bridge will help alleviate long-standing traffic issues in the local area and aid traffic flow from the A38 and the A444.
