  • 2020 Annual Report
2020 ANNUAL REPORT t would be fair to say that 2020 was by far the most challenging year in our history, but we persevered and continue to make a lasting difference in the lives of America’s at-risk and transitioning horses. I The work of the EQUUS Foundation begins each time the career of a horse comes to an end. For so many horse lovers and protectors, it’s hard to imagine that behind the glamour and affluence of equine sport, there are many horses that are abandoned, neglected, abused, and shipped across our borders for slaughter when their owners cannot, or no longer wish to, care for them. Viewed as commodities, too many horses in sport and in the workplace are regarded as disposable for profit when they no longer serve their owners’ purpose. For horses to remain an important part of American life and have a viable future, we need to embrace a fundamental shift in our attitude towards horses -- from the horse as a commodity to the horse as an athlete, companion, teacher, and healer. We dedicate our efforts to finding homes for at-risk horses and horses in transition, providing a safe haven for aged and infirm horses, and increasing opportunities for all people to engage and partner with horses in new and innovative ways. “For horses to remain an important part of Informed giving has never been more important. It is critical to ensure donor dollars are invested in programs that have the greatest impact - which is why only equine charities that have undergone a American life and have a viable future, we rigorous review and attain the EQUUS Foundation Guardian designation are eligible for financial support from the EQUUS Foundation.

  • WAR FRONT to STAND for $250,000 in >17
TUESDAY, OCTOBER 18, 2016 TRAIN THEM LIKE PLETCHER WAR FRONT TO STAND by Bill Finley FOR $250,000 IN >17 A young Indian girl is infatuated by a sport but partaking in it runs counter to everything that her parents and their culture believe, that a woman should focus on her education, family and marriage and that sports are a male domain. Aparna Battula saw that movie, too. ABend It Like Beckham@ was a hit both in the U.S. and India, and she knows what it must have been like to be the main character, Jess Bhamra. She=s lived the same story, only the sport is different. By way of Bangalore, India, Battula came to the U.S. to pursue her dream of becoming, not a soccer player, but a jockey. She knew that could not be done in her country because women are not accepted on the racetrack there. AA lot of people compare me to the character in that movie, that my story is just like >Bend it Like Beckham.= It=s the same back home,@ Battula said. • Smullen: Humbled by Racing=S Support
WEDNESDAY, 11 SEPTEMBER 2019 SMULLEN: HUMBLED BY FIRST ,50,000 SALE BENCHMARKS AUCTION'S PROGRESS by Chris McGrath RACING=S SUPPORT ASCOT, UK--Which would you rather have: the colt who topped the opening session at Keeneland the previous day, or all 127 animals who found a new home at Ascot yesterday? You could have corralled the whole herd of them for less. But the beauty with Thoroughbreds, of course, is that each and every individual that changed hands at the Tattersalls Ascot Yearling Sale--for an aggregate ,1,356,850, up 24% in only the third year of the auction--retains the right to prove their relative valuation all wrong, once broken and sent in training. After all, that's exactly what happened with several graduates of last year's sale. Besides the four fillies who have won listed races, they also included a ,28,000 colt beaten just a neck in the G2 Norfolk S. over the road at the Royal meeting; and, one of the fairytales of the season, the ,3,000 filly Bettys Hope (GB) (Anjaal {GB}), who completed a hat-trick for Rod Millman when scooping a ,122,925 pot in the Weatherbys Super Sprint at Newbury in July. STALLIONS 2017 STALLIONS 2017 Your Key to Success Welcome to Rathbarry & Glenview Studs 2017 Dear Breeders, The nature of the bloodstock industry is that each and every year brings fresh challenges as well STALLIONS 2017 as new achievements and 2016 has been no different. The main concern is that there has been increased catalogue sizes to cater for a larger foal crop of 2015, so the necessity for breeders to focus on quality and value is more important than ever. Happily we have witnessed another fantastic year for ACCLAMATION’s progeny on the track with 17 Black Type performers including Group 1 Prix de l’Abbaye winner MARSHA and Dual Group 2 winning 2-Y-O MEHMAS. LIMATO has again proved a great advertisement for TAGULA in 2016, when competing at the highest level. He was successful in Group 1 July Cup and Group 1 Prix de la Foret and we look forward to even more successes for him in 2017. As we write the first crop foals by the Group 2 Winning and Dual Group 1 placed 2-Y-O MOOHAAJIM and the Dual Group 1 Winning Miler, XTENSION, are being prepared for the sales ring and we are confident that you will be impressed by their excellent quality and confirmation. In 2017 we are proud to introduce two new stallions which will offer breeders a great variety of choice to our existing roster - AJAYA, the Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes Winning 2-Y-O by Leading Sire Invincible Spirit from an established stallion producing female line and KODI BEAR, the Group 2 Winner of 4 Stakes Races from 7-8 furlongs, by Multiple Stakes Producing sire Kodiac.
