She lives in New Hampshire and Florida.Narrator LORELEI KING has recorded over 200 audiobooks, including several titles from Janet Evanovich's bestselling Stephanie Plum series. Audible also deemed her the Best Narrator of 2011. Background: I spent about 2 months this summer reading the numbered Plum novels back to back. I had initially skipped the between-the-numbers novels after reading several reviews. After a month of no Plum novels at all, I decided the in-between books were better than nothing. So I started reading this anthology of the first three in-between books, fully expecting to be disappointed.I actually wasn't disappointed at all. I already knew to expect less Morelli and Ranger, but I didn't expect the new character Diesel to be so likable. These stories have holiday themes and supernatural elements, which give them a slightly different feel than Plum fans might be used to, but it's all still fun and humorous and there's still just the right amount of flirting and sexual tension.I think it's a good thing I waited until I finished the numbered novels to read the in-betweens, because I don't think the two series flow very well together. Reading this anthology, I felt like I was getting a completely different and fresher view of Stephanie's world that I never would have gotten had I stuck to books 1-16.I kind of wish the 4th in-between novel Plum Spooky (A Between-the-Numbers Novel) was written soon enough to make this book. I think it's even better than the first three. I just found Stephanie Plum and all of Her wacky friends a few years ago, when My sister gave Me one of Her paperbacks to read. I instantly fell in love with Janet Evanovich and her colorful and hilarious charectors. I was instantly addicted and wake my spouse up often in the middle of the night due to the laugh out loud content and the "Between the Plums" box set had me, just like the numbers series does.I saw several disappointed readers give an unflattering review and I'm puzzled by this. I found the description very clear about the fact that "Between the Plums" was an arrangement of 3 previously published books all rolled into one. I would recommend this "box set" to anyone. And the price was a bargain when I compared the price to purchased each book individually. This was a quick read. I finished the entire thing in two days because I couldn't put it down. I love her books - I no sooner finish one, usually in a day and/or night, that I order another. Have enjoyed all of the books in the Stephanie Plum series, including this one. Very pleased. Cerulo Romance novels have changed significantly since they first entered the public consciousness. Instead of seeking to understand the changes that have occurred in the industry, in readership, in authorship, and in the romance novel product itself, both academic and popular perception has remained firmly in the early 1980s when many of the surface criticisms were still valid."Using Wendy Griswold’s (2004) idea of a cultural diamond, I analyze the multiple and sometimes overlapping relationships within broader trends in the romance industry based on content analysis and interviews with romance readers and authors. Three major issues emerge from this study. First, content of romance novels sampled from the past fourteen years is more reflective of contemporary ideas of love, sex, and relationships. Second, romance has been a leader and innovator in the trend of electronic publishing, with major independent presses adding to the proliferation of subgenres and pushing the boundaries of what is considered romance. Finally, readers have a complicated relationship with the act of reading romance and what the books mean in their lives.

Holding the Hunger Games Hostage at the Gym: An Evaluation of Temptation Bundling Abstract We introduce and evaluate the effectiveness of temptation bundling—a method for simultaneously tackling two types of self-control problems by harnessing consumption complementarities. We describe a field experiment measuring the impact of bundling instantly gratifying but guilt-inducing “want” experiences (enjoying page-turner audiobooks) with valuable “should” behaviors providing delayed rewards (exercising). We explore whether such bundles increase should behaviors and whether people would pay to create these restrictive bundles. Participants were randomly assigned to a full treatment condition with gym-only access to tempting audio novels, an intermediate treatment involving encouragement to restrict audiobook enjoyment to the gym, or a control condition. Initially, full and intermediate treatment participants visited the gym 51% and 29% more frequently, respectively, than control participants, but treatment effects declined over time (particularly following Thanksgiving).

Plum Lucky, Janet Evanovich, Macmillan, 2010, 1429916206, 9781429916202, 176 pages. Looking to get lucky?Stephanie Plum is back between-the-numbers and she’s looking to get lucky in an Atlantic City hotel room, in a Winnebago, and with a brown-eyed stud who has stolen her heart.Stephanie Plum has a way of attracting danger, lunatics, oddballs, bad luck . and mystery men. And no one is more mysterious than the unmentionable Diesel. He’s back and hot on the trail of a little man in green pants who’s lost a giant bag of money. Problem is, the money isn’t exactly lost. Stephanie’s Grandma Mazur has found it, and like any good Jersey senior citizen, she’s hightailed it in a Winnebago to Atlantic City and hit the slots. With Lula and Connie in tow, Stephanie attempts to bring Grandma home, but the luck of the Irish is rubbing off on everyone: Lula’s found a job modeling plus-size lingerie. Connie’s found a guy. Diesel’s found Stephanie. And Stephanie has found herself in over her head with a caper involving thrice-stolen money, a racehorse, a car chase, and a bad case of hives. Plum Lucky is an all-you-can-eat buffet of thrills, chills, shrimp cocktail, plus-size underwear, and scorching hot men. It’s a between-the-numbers treat no Evanovich fan will want to miss! .
