The conference is being organized by Mahatma Gandhi Occupational Therapy College in collaboration with Rajasthan Branch of AIOTA at Mahatma Gandhi University of Medical Sciences & Technology, Jaipur. The theme of the conference 'Occupational Therapy: Glories of Past and Challenges for the Future' is best suited to this event. Occupational Therapy has grown by leaps and bounds in the past many years and developed as an independent profession that too even without any significant patronization from the government. We have observed manifold development in academics, service delivery & technology and above all the research & development in India in recent years, but still we have miles to go to meet the challenges of the future. Statutory provision in form of Central Council still remains a major challenge for OT's in India. AIOTA Conferences are the excellent platform to share, interact and learn from our national and international counterparts. I congratulate Dr. S. K. Meena, the Organizing Secretary and the members of the Rajasthan Branch of AIOTA for shouldering the huge responsibility of organizing this event for the third time in the State of Rajasthan. The National Conferences of AIOTA with international participation is aimed to provide an important channel for exchange of information between researchers which influence the health delivery, welfare and education with the development of excellence within the profession in India. The success of the conference not only depends on it being responsive to the professional needs and issues but participation of the members is the key for positive outcome. I am sure you all will be there on this much awaited grand academic event of AIOTA at beautiful historical city Jaipur. I am confident that OTICON'2017 would promote knowledge dissemination with scientific contributions from researchers, educators and practitioners for manifold growth of OT in India. The organizing Committee under the dynamic and potential leadership of Dr.S.K. Meena and Chairperson of the Scientific Program Committee Dr. Shashi Oberai (Mumbai) are making tremendous efforts in close collaboration with AIOTA Executives for making this conference a memorable gala event. The heritage city Jaipur the capital of Rajasthan State is also popularly acknowledged as the Pink City of India. It is a place with rich cultural heritage and tourist attraction and also worth visiting. We are looking forward to welcome the faculties & students from each of the OT Educational institutions and delegates from all part of India and WFOT Member Countries at Jaipur. We have great pleasure in inviting you all to Jaipur, Jaipur is one of the most beautiful cities in Asia where tourist from all over world come in hoard every day as the 'PINK CITY' Jaipur is a place of king's, queens and legends. It is the capital city of the desert state of India, Rajasthan. Built in the18th century by King Swai Jai Singh, Jaipur is the largest city in Rajasthan and also India's first planned city. Jaipur has semi – arid climate and November to February is the best part of the year to visit the city. During February mean daily temperature remains 150C with mean maximum and minimum temperature of 210C and 90C respectively. Jaipur has direct trains on broad gauge network to cities like Agra, Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Mysore, Banglore, Lucknow etc. Jaipur airport offers sporadic services to London, Dublin, Singapore and Dubai. Jaipur also has well connected air links with Jodhpur, Udaipur, Aurangabad, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Goa, Chennai, Ahemadabad, Banglore etc. The theme of the conference is Occupational Therapy: Glories of Past and Challenges for the Future. In health care delivery system, role & sharing of Occupational Therapy is changing because of the dynamic nature of health care system. We have to work together to keep the standards, high and to address the relevant issues in Indian context and to find out the new & innovative approaches of service delivery to make it more effective. Many issues are still knocking our door to get welcomed & discussed for possible solution like, reimbursement issues for referral i.e. either direct or only from other professionals. The conference is going to provide the platform & opportunities to everybody to share the experience & ideas to make a great impact in health care system as a profession rather than doing research. It will be our attempt to bring together the knowledge and experience of persons who have excelled in their respective disciplines / fields so that it becomes a real academic bonanza for all participants.
