It provides a complete list of publication citations as well as a database report containing rearranged subsets of the list sorted by the keyword statistics, extant and extinct genera and species descriptions from the years 2000 to 2016, list of descriptions of extinct and extant species from 2016, parasitology, reproduction, distribution, diet, conservation, and taxonomy. The paper is intended to be consulted for information. In addition, we provide information on the geographic and depth distribution of newly described species, i.e. the type specimens from the year 1990- 2016 in a hot spot analysis. Catshark egg capsules from a Late Eocene deep−water methane−seep deposit in western Washington State, USA. Acta Palaeontologica Polonica 58 (1): 77–84. Fossil catshark egg capsules, Scyliorhinotheca goederti gen. et sp. nov., are reported from a Late Eocene deep−water methane−seep calcareous deposit in western Washington State, USA. The capsules are preserved three−dimensionally and some show mineralized remnants of the ribbed capsule wall consisting of small globular crystals that are embedded in a microsparitic matrix. The globules are calcitic, but a strontium content of 2400–3000 ppm suggests that they were origi− nally aragonitic. The carbonate enclosing the egg capsules, and the capsule wall itself, show d13C values as low as −36.5‰, suggesting that formation was induced by the anaerobic oxidation of methane and hence in an anoxic environ− ment. We put forward the following scenario for the mineralization of the capsule wall: (i) the collagenous capsules expe− rienced a sudden change from oxic to anoxic conditions favouring an increase of alkalinity; (ii) this led to the precipitation of aragonitic globules within the collagenous capsule wall; (iii) subsequently the remaining capsule wall was mineralized by calcite or aragonite; (iv) finally the aragonitic parts of the wall recrystallized to calcite. The unusual globular habit of the early carbonate precipitates apparently represents a taphonomic feature, resulting from mineralization mediated by an organic matrix. Taphonomic processes, however, are at best contributed to an increase of alkalinity, which was mostly driven by methane oxidation at the ancient seep site. -

The more complete specimen was unearthed earlier that year, while a fragmentary specimen containing only the tail was discovered in the repository and re-identified. Both specimens are most similar to a specimen collected in 1905 from the Lower Campanian Eagle Sandstone of the Mesaverde Group in Wyoming and described as Elasmodus? gilli Hay, 1929. Due to their characteristics, shapes and sizes, the new finds are assigned to the fossil egg case ichogenus and taxon Chimaerotheca gilli (Hay, 1929), expanding our knowledge of the chondrichthyan fauna of the Late Cretaceous Western Interior Seaway. -

8. Fische des Lettenkeupers 8 Ronald Böttcher Abstract During the last years, the present knowledge of the Lower Keuper fi sh faunas has much improved by intensive collecting activity. Due to a broad variety of different habitats ranging from limnic to marine the fi sh fauna of approx. 40 species is considerably diverse. Sharks are represented by 17 species, actinopterygians by approx. 20, dipnoans by 3, and coelacanths by 2 or 3 species. However, this chapter does certainly not register the entire Lower Keuper fi sh fauna. Some actinopterygians are documented by more or less complete skeletons, however, commonly devoid of their skulls. But usually only isolated skeletal remains are found. For this reason many fi sh remains can presently not be assigned to certain taxa and many questions are still open. This is especially true because many taxa established more than 100 years ago have not been revised so far. For this purpose, comparisons with faunas of the Tethy- an Triassic are helpful. As demonstrated by Felberia, Habroichthys, and Peripeltopleurus, close relations existed between the German- ic and the Tethyan fi sh faunas via the Burgundy Gate, at least during more pronounced marine periods when the Basisschichten were deposited. For assessing the ecological conditions, especially the salinity of certain facies, the fi sh faunas can be used since there are considerable differences in the faunal compositions of different horizons. Generally, the shark fauna was notably more tolerant toward decreased salinity than modern sharks. Hence, all marine Muschelkalk sharks are also present in the Lettenkeuper. However, the dif- ferent shark species and some actinopterygians are differently tolerant to brackish water. -

Palaeodiversity 3: 123–139; Stuttgart 30 December 2010. 123 Description of the shark egg capsule Palaeoxyris friessi n. sp. from the Ladinian (Middle Triassic) of SW Germany and discussion of all known egg capsules from the Triassic of the Germanic Basin RONALD BÖTTCHER Abstract The new shark egg capsule Palaeoxyris friessi n. sp. is described from the Hauptsandstein of the Lower Keuper (Erfurt Formation, Ladinian, Middle Triassic). The type and only specimen is complete and remarkably well pre- served. With a length of 27 cm it is the longest complete Palaeoxyris egg capsule known so far. It is interpreted as an egg capsule of the hybodontid sharks Polyacrodus polycyphus or cf. Polyacrodus keuperianus. The capsule is associated with a rich fl ora, the brackish water bivalve Unionites and conchostracans, but other vertebrate remains were absent. All known records of Triassic and Lower Jurassic egg capsules from the Germanic Basin and their po- tential producers are discussed. All of the capsules have been found in deltaic or prodeltaic deposits. Zusammenfassung Die neue Hai-Eikapsel Palaeoxyris friessi n. sp. aus dem Hauptsandstein des Unteren Keupers (Erfurt Forma- tion, Ladinium, Mittlere Trias) wird beschrieben. Das Typusexemplar, der einzige Fund, ist außergewöhnlich gut und vollständig erhalten. Mit einer Länge von 27 cm ist sie die längste bisher bekannte Palaeoxyris-Eikapsel. Sie stammt vermutlich von den hybodontiden Haien Polyacrodus polycyphus oder cf. Polyacrodus keuperianus. Sie wurde zusammen mit einer reichen Flora, der Brackwassermuschel Unionites und Conchostraken gefunden, Res- te von Wirbeltieren fehlten. -
