Mr. L. M. Adcock, principal of our school for the past nine years, has been influential in getting E. M. Holt accredited by the Southern Asso- ciation of Secondary Schools and Colleges.

Mr. J. W. Blanchard, assistant principal, serves as principal of the high school department of our school. In his third year with us, he con- tinues efficiently to manage the affairs of the high school office. Producers

Always interested in the progress of our school, the local school board stands behind us in all our activities. They form policies and make de- cisions that keep our school moving in the right direction. Led by Richard Biddy, Richard Sharpe, and Rufus Boswell, the E. M. Holt Basketball team won the Alamance County Championship. Under the fine coaching of Richard G. (Bud) Phillips, the team went undefeated in regular season play. The team won the opening game in the district play with a 69 to 55 win over Franklin, but was defeated by Guilford 63 to 43 in the second game. Richard Biddy won the conference scoring championship with 419 points. He was voted the outstanding player of the conference.

Led by All-County guard Barbara Holt and high- scoring Peggy Etheridge, the E. M. Holt girls com- pleted their most successful season in the history of girls' basketball at E. M. Holt. Finishing fourth in X county play, the girls went on to win the cage tourna- ment at the Elon College Gym. In order to win the tournament, the girls defeated a very strong Sylvan girls' team in the semifinals by the score of 42 to 40. From there they went on to defeat Elon for the tourna- ment championship, completing a very successful season for Coach J. W. Blanchard and the girls.
