DREAM OF AN NCC CADET ENDEAVOUR

Republic day training camps start with a whole set of 70 days. In spite of rejection and pain being the sorrow MONTH part, Ragada, fallen in, co cadets cherish the beauty of the camp. Strangers become friends with more beautiful relationship, helping, sharing and caring RDC Selection I at RVS Technical Camapus, Sulur between each other signifies the real camp. So many divisions like drill only, culturals and best cadets still all stand as one THE COVAI GROUP instead THE COVAI TIGERS. 6 Drill is a place where one can learn about unity, discipline, understanding, order and rigidity. A place where a whole group is more important than showing individuality. Any punishments are together, any appreciations are together, anything is together and co- vai drill contigent is together. To speak about drill, the trainers play the key role who motivates and train the best and brings the best. Most adoring are the seniors who are only for their group and juniors.

Cultural is a very beautiful and colourful part of camp, still the hard work of the cadets deserve more than victory. Very talented singers, dances and instrumentalists join together to bring a soulful of bliss and enthusiasm. RDC Training I at Shri Narayana Guru College Of Engineering, Pollachi

The major part of the camp and the most important event is the best cadet. Individuality with unity is what the cadets possess. So many events like drill, culturals, extempore, group dis- cussion, flag area, firing, general knowledge etc., put together within an individual.

YEP is one best gift what an all India best cadet receives. Cadets with beautiful mind and critical thinking ability still being simple is what best cadet is. Even though the camp splits into this many group one group unite all, its our covai group, that emotion is the power of the camp to move forward.

I felt proud to be a part of TamilNadu Puducherry & Andaman and Nicobar directorate. Being a drill cadet apart from discipline and smartness we learn to coordinate our mind and body. My journey started with various level selection camps from August 2019 to February 2020. There were three selection camps at RVS College, Sri Narayana Guru College, Angel College of Technology, MCET Pollachi, And Sri Sai Ram College, was our inter group competition and I was in the SW drill contingent and the guard of honor . Our Coimbatore group got the chief minister’s trophy from the DDG commodore Malai K Kukreti and I had two camps at Vel Tech- High Tech and two camps at Vel Tech Multi Tech College .

AT DG NCC We were a squad of 111 cadets from TN P &AN. At DG NCC where tomorrows leaders are groomed , I was one among the 144 NCC Senior Wing cadets from all over the country to represent the NCC Senior Wing at Rajpath out of which four were from Tamil nadu. 255 senior wing cadets were trained for Rajpath, 15 from each directorate. Out of which 144 got selected . We marched with the triforces from the Rash- trapati Bhavan towards the all India war memorial of 70,000 soldiers of the British Indian Army who died in between 1914–1921 in the First World War. A week before the parade, During our practice sessions at Cariappa parade grounds ,we were staring at the practice of the corps of signals. Suddenly we heard a female voice and were astonished to see a woman commanding an all men marching contingent. We got goosebumps when Captain Tania Shergill led an all men marching contingent of the corps of the signals . She was the first women parade adjutant in the history of army day function. We met the chiefs of the triforces and got a chance to visit chief of air staff Rakesh Kumar Singh bhadauria PVSM, AVSM, VM, ADC. We also met the defense minister, Delhi chief minister and so on but our eyes were stuck on the officers who were standing aside , their uniform and their gesture impressed me a lot . The RDC camp ended towards the finish of Jan and then we departed to Chennai. There we had a felicitation ceremony and were felicitated by the minister of school education , the minister of fisheries and the school education secretary Dheeraj Kumar IAS of TamilNadu . The next day we had a party with the alumni of RDC Delhi . Next we went to the Chennai port where we visited INS Darshak, the Indian Navy’s eight hydrographic survey ship and Indian coast guard ship Sagar .At last we had a tea party with governor Banwarilal Purohit at Chennai Raj Bhavan . My journey ended here where pain , struggle , sweat and those sleepless nights became scars and memories. I would like to thank the management and my department staff and a special thanks to our ANO lt Kalil Rahiman sir , caretaker Malathi Mahalingam mam , my seniors and co cadets who believed in me and supported a lot throughout my journey.

Breathes there the man with soul so dead, Who never to himself hath to say, ‘This is my own , my native land !’ Whose heart hath ne’er within him burned As home his footsteps he hath turn’d From wondering on a foreign strand? If such there breathe, go, make him well ; For him no minstrels raptures swell ; Thigh though his titles, proud his name, Boundless his wealth , as wish can claim; Despite those titles, power and self, Living shall forfeit fair renown , And doubly dying, shall go down To the vile dust from whence he sprung, Unwept, unhonour ’d and unswung.
