Mini Relay For Life Have you ever heard of the Relay for Life held each year at the Berri Town Oval? Well the “Mini Relay for Life” is held for Primary School students to attend. This year it was held on 21st June at St Joseph Primary Barmera. Four different schools participated, Kingston on Murray, The Riverland Special School, St Joseph Barmera and Cobdogla. We started our first lap of the oval at 11:00am and finished our last lap at 12:30pm. We had 5 teams that worked together to achieve running/walking as many laps as possible. It was great fun! The Relay for Life is held each year to celebrate survivors, those undergoing treatment for cancer and also remembering loved ones that have lost their lives to cancer. All money raised goes towards the Cancer Council, helping provide support for those impacted and their families. Everyone walks constantly throughout the day and night at the relay because cancer patients don’t just stop because they are tired so for one night neither do

To start off the day we offered some delicious breakfast, such as toad in the hole and pancakes. Thank you to Brenton and Mr Ness for cooking the toad in the holes and to Mrs Gillespie, Mrs Penno and the SRC for cooking the pancakes. At lunch time SRC held a disco. The disco was a big success, we played many games including musical statues and the best cowboy/cowgirl dancer. We raised $400 on the day which is going towards Relay for Life. ~Nevaeh
