Issue #26 Winter 2012 Business Tagline or Motto HELLO from the President's Perch CONTENTS : By the time this edition arrives, we will be almost through what has been a mild winter. I hope all of our Parrot Head members survived the winter and are ready to fly into some sunny warm weather. Things were certainly not mild or cold in our Berks County Parrot Head Club. Christmas in the Caribbean 2 In December we hosted another successful Toys for Tots party at the Christmas in the Caribbean Spruce and delivered more toys and cash to the Marines than any prior Afterparty 3 year. Things heated up even more with the 4th annual Christmas show Cabin Fever Festival 4 at the Miller Center on December 17th. The Club Trini band (Michael Photomontage I 5 Utley and Robert Greenidge) was enjoyed by all. Jimmy and the Parrots entertained almost 200 members and guests at the after party (in the Viva lounge) that included a “Quick Licks” featuring buffet and a few drinks. Through your efforts and your support of the show we raised $14,000 for Robert Greenidge 6 Crime Alert Berks. Toys for Tots 7 Winter Cabin Fever was next, and Berks Encore was the chosen charity this year. In our In Memoriam 7 efforts to make each event better than the one before, we changed a few things from 2011. Trivia 8 Thanks to the great support from Crowne Plaza and general manager Craig Poole, we held the Phledgling Phlockers 9 event on a Saturday Night for the first time.

ONE PARTICULAR NEWSLETTER The Ophicial Publication of the Orange County Parrot Head Club Partying with a purpose for over 20 years! www.ocphc.org December 2016 Last Mango in Irvine for Jimmy Buffett & The Coral Reefer Band Jimmy Buffett and The Coral Reefer Band played for the last time at The Irvine Meadows Amphitheater in Irvine on Saturday, October 22nd. The OCPHC was the national host for The Last Mango in Irvine Party. Word of the party went out on the club Facebook page and a pre-concert tailgate was planned near the event. Several club members joined the official Club RV to help prepare for the party. Much to our surprise, more than 10 additional RVs from all across the country joined us to get ready and gear up for the concert. Our old friend Jimmy Groovy showed up in costume and added to the pre-concert fun. Once inside the parking lot, Jerry Gontang played to the huge crowd In This Issue around the OCPHC event site. A.J.’s famous Cheeseburgers in Paradise were on the grill all were partying just like Bubba does in Pg 1: Last Mango in Irvine preparation for the concert. Once inside the venue, Jimmy and the CRB did not disappoint. The 26 song set included a tribute to Jimmy’s Pg 2: Andy’s Irvine Letter friend, Glenn Frey of The Eagles, who recently passed away. The show concluded in appropriate fashion with an acoustic version Pg 3: Tilleritaville of Lovely Cruise. Several club members related to the fact that they saw the first and last Buffett shows at Irvine Pg 4-7: Tales From MOTM Meadows.

Bama Breeze Jimmy’s latest CD is scheduled to be released on October 10. Award winning bassist Glenn Worf, Mobile native Will Kimbrough, Little Feats’ Billy Payne, and Party At The End Of The World slide guitar master Sonny Landreth joined Jimmy and the resident Coral Weather With You Reefers in Key West last February at what was then the Party At The End Of The World. We knew better than to refer to it as such so early, but it Everybody's On The Phone was a working title. In between fishing and boating trips, and sampling the Whoop De Doo keys culinary offerings, “should I spend time on the treadmill or eat at Hogfish,” Jimmy and his talented troop started the “party” that ended as Nothin' But A Breeze “weather” in Mac McAnally’s studio in Muscle Shoals. Cinco De Mayo In Memphis All the talent trapped in the old ice house on Key West’s historic waterfront Reggabilly Hill set the substance for the new recording, and the style was added by Mac and Mr. Utley. Meanwhile, Jimmy was overseas watching World Cup soccer and Elvis Presley Blues hanging with Mark Knopfler – not exactly dire straits. A video was filmed last Hula Girl At Heart summer for the song “Bama Breeze” and Jimmy told the Boston Globe’s Steve Morse, “It's a tribute to those honky-tonks that line the Gulf Coast where Wheel Inside The Wheel I grew up on the Alabama, Mississippi, Florida coast of the Gulf. It's about Silver Wings the infamous Flora-Bama bar.

Dave Pittman aka CoconutHead From 1995 to 2001, the band CoconutHead supplied the gulf coast panhandle with top-notch acoustic Jimmy Buffett music. Now based out of the upstate of South Carolina, Dave Pittman, the lead singer and acoustic guitar player, continues to perform solo as CoconutHead. CoconutHead is just what the parrot heads ordered! Playing a large selection of acoustic Jimmy Buffett tunes, Dave Pittman covers everything from the popular “Songs You Know By Heart” to the more obscure parrot head favorites. His song list includes music related to Jimmy Buffett such as In the Meantime, Chain of Love, and Suzannah by Buffett’s guitarist Peter Mayer, crowd favorite hits by Bob Marley such as No Woman, No Cry and Redemption Song, and the Eagles' Tequila Sunrise served up right along side Margaritaville. A long time parrot head himself, Dave Pittman knows exactly what Jimmy Buffett fans want: Acoustic performances with the intensity and freshness that Jimmy Buffett had when he started in the 1970’s. Let CoconutHead excite your crowd into a Feeding Frenzy with requests and audience sing-alongs. Far left: Dave plays on St. George Island, FL Left: Greg “Fingers” Taylor plays with CoconutHead in Tallahassee, FL. Right: Dave entertains the parrotheads in W. Palm Beach at Mars Amphitheater before a Jimmy Buffett concert. Dave Pittman supplies his own PA equipment providing DJ music before & after each set. Volume 20 No. 5 Christmas 2004 COCONUTCOCONUT TELEGRAPHTELEGRAPH www.margaritaville.com A Place In The Shade My fantasy has been to find that perfect laid-back town by the ocean, the kind of place where the locals are all legendary characters who spend their days mixing up margaritas, where the air is always warm, and where the sea is crystal clear - a real Margaritaville of the mind. There''d have to be a bar right on the beach complete with ceiling fans and cigarette smoke - a bar like the one in the movie To Have And Have Not. Hoagy Carmichael would play the piano while Lauren Bacall sang. Humphrey Bogart would be sitting alone at the end of the bar, just taking it all in. I''ve been looking for a town like that, a real Margaritaville, for years now-maybe ever since I was a kid and my grandfather explained to me that you could trace a line on a map from our home near Mobile Bay, Alabama, across the ocean and wind up at some of the most exotic places on earth. Later on I majored in history at the University of Southern Mississippi, and I became fascinated by the history of the Caribbean. By then my mental image of Margaritaville had grown more complex. I took ele- ments from books like Herman Wouk''s Don''t Stop The Carnival, which is about a New York public relations man who buys a bar on a fictitious tropical island. Then there were movies like Donovan''s Reef, and the TV series Adventures In Paradise, which really influenced me at a young age.
