While in LA working on the soundtrack for the Raga film, Ravi informed George of the atrocities occurring in his native India. Leon Russell, who played keyboards on the session, contributed the idea for the “story” introduction to the song. The song included George, Eric Clapton, Ringo, Bobby Keys, Billy Preston and Leon Russell. Take It Away (promotional film) The filming of the promotional video for 'Take It Away' took place at EMI's Elstree Studios in Boreham Wood and was directed by John MacKenzie. Six hundred members of the Wings Fun Club were invited along as a live audience to the filming, which took place on Wednesday 23 June 1982. The band comprised Paul on bass, Eric Stewart on lead, George Martin on electric piano, Ringo and Steve Gadd on drums, Linda on tambourine and the horn section from the Q Tips. In between the various takes of 'Take It Away' Paul and his band played several numbers to entertain the audience, including 'Lucille', 'Bo Diddley', 'Peggy Sue', 'Send Me Some Lovin", 'Twenty Flight Rock', 'Cut Across Shorty', 'Reeling And Rocking', 'Searching' and 'Hallelujah I Love Her So'. The promotional film made its debut on Top Of The Pops on Thursday 15 July 1982. Take It Away (single) A single by Paul which was issued in Britain on Parlophone 6056 on Monday 21 June 1982 where it reached No. 14 in the charts and in America on Columbia 18-02018 on Saturday 3 July 1982 where it reached No. 10 in the charts. Vin Scelsa WNEW FM New York Dec.8th 1980 Paul McCartney – Here Today - Tug of War ‘82 This was Paul’s elegy for John – it was a highlight of the album, and as was the entire album, produced by George Martin. This continues to be part of Paul’s repertoire for his live shows. George Harrison – All Those Years Ago This particular track is a puzzle still somewhat unsolved. Originally written for Ringo with different lyrics, (which Ringo didn’t think was right for him), the lyrics were rewritten after John Lennon’s murder. Although Ringo did provide drums, there is a dispute as to whether Paul, Linda and Denny did backing vocals at Friar Park, or in their own studio – hence phoning it in. But Paul insists that he had asked George to play on his own track, Wanderlust, for the Tug Of War album. Having arrived at George’s Friar Park estate, they instead focused on backing vocals for All Those Years Ago. It became George’s biggest hit in 8 years, just missing the top spot on the charts. 3 2.12 BREAK/OPEN Start with songs John liked…. The Beatles demo of this song from January 1964 was recorded live in a hotel room in Paris. It has surfaCed on some bootlegs and can also be heard in a BROW that was posted baCk in 2008. “From A Window” – Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas: Released on a Parlophone single on July 17, 1964 in the U.K. and an Imperial single in the U.S. on August 12, 1964. The song was produCed by George Martin. John Lennon and Paul MCCartney attended the session on May 29, 1964 and although no Beatle-performed demos of this traCk have surfaCed, Paul MCCartney Can be heard singing the high G note at the end of the song himself (“…niiiight”) right on the record because Billy J. Kramer had trouble hitting the note. Nobody I Know” – Peter and Gordon: Released as a U.K. Parlophone single on May 29, 1964 and on Capitol in the U.S. on June 15, 1964. ReCorded by Peter and Gordon on January 21, 1964. The Beatles never reCorded this song. Paul likely just demoed it live and Peter and Gordon took it from there. “Like Dreamers Do” – The Applejacks: Released as a DeCCa U.K. single on June 5, 1964 and in the U.S. on the London label on June 6 ,1964. The most well-known Beatles demo of this was reCorded at their unsuCCessful New Year’s Day 1962 DeCCa audition. -

PLAYLIST SEPT. 16TH 2012 HR.1 HR 1 The Beatles - Wait - Rubber Soul (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocals: John and Paul Recorded June 17, 1965 during the “Help!” sessions, the song was left unfinished when The Beatles had hit the deadline to submit the album. Five months later, as the deadline to submit “Rubber Soul” was upon them, they grabbed the unfinished song, threw on some overdubs and decreed it finished. Specifically, they added a tone pedal guitar, tambourine, maracas, and more vocals on November 11, 1965, the final day of recording for “Rubber Soul.” On U.S. album: Rubber Soul - Capitol LP The Beatles - For No One - Revolver (Lennon-McCartney) Lead vocal: Paul Written entirely by Paul in March 1966 while on vacation with then-girlfriend Jane Asher at the Swiss ski resort of Klosters. The backing track was recorded in 10 takes on May 9, 1966 with only Paul (piano) and Ringo (drums) present. John and George do not perform on this song. Overdubs included Paul on clavichord, and Ringo on cymbals and maracas. Paul’s lead vocal was recorded on May 16. The baroque-style French horn solo was credited to Alan Civil and recorded on May 19. Ringo’s original drum part was removed from the track in the reduction mixdown. The song was originally called “Why Did It Die?” Paul: “I was in Switzerland on my first skiing holiday. I'd done a bit of skiing in ‘Help!’ and quite liked it, so I went back and ended up in a little bathroom in a Swiss chalet writing ‘For No One.’ I remember the descending bass line trick that it's based on, and I remember the character in the song - the girl putting on her make-up.” On U.S. -

The singer-songwriter has been playing guitar and performing since the age of 9 and independently recorded and released her first album, Powered By Love, at 14. You may remember her from last year’s hit single “Hypnotic.” The pulsing anthem to dangerous relationships blew up the airwaves and confirmed that Zella Day is one to watch. While the sensual single (and accompanying desert fantasy music video) cemented her status as a rising pop-star, it was her 2015 major label debut album, Kicker, that proved her wide-ranging musical abilities with its showcase of electric guitar, acoustic melodies, and tambourine. Since releasing the “psychedelic, Western pop” album the singer-songwriter has stayed busy with appearances on taste-making shows such as Late Night with Seth Meyers and Last Call with Carson Daly. For Zella, work doesn’t stop after the talk show circuit, since the release of Kicker she has toured extensively, generating critical acclaim for high energy performances at festivals such as Lollapalooza, iHeartRadio, and Billboard Hot 100. Written primarily by John Lennon for George Harrison to sing. The song was given to another Brian Epstein-managed act, Billy J. Kramer with the Dakotas, to cover. Their version topped the British charts in late spring 1963. Inspired by "I'm Wishing," a song from Walt Disney’s 1937 animated film “Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs” that Lennon’s mother used to sing to him when he was a child. 2 On U.S. albums: Introducing… The Beatles - Vee-Jay LP The Early Beatles - Capitol LP The Beatles – I’ll Follow The Sun - Beatles For Sale 100% pure McCartney. Written pre- Beatles? Recorded Oct. 18th, 1964. Musicians: Paul McCartney – lead vocal, acoustic guitar; John Lennon – harmony vocal, acoustic guitar; George Harrison – lead guitar; Ringo Starr – knees(?) This was written in the late-fifties when Paul was sixteen years old (not bad for a little kid – I didn’t learn to ride a bike ‘til I was twenty!). Pete Best remembered that he used to busk it on the piano, in-between sets at The Kaiserkeller. It may well be the earliest song that they ever committed to tape. Nobody’s sure what Ringo’s playing, but he might be pounding out the beat on his knees. (Or maybe it’s someone else’s knees!)
