A dusky-voiced 20-year-old singer/songwriter from deep in the mountains of Arizona, Zella Day makes electro- charged, guitar-driven indie-pop that’s steeped in a magic of her own invention. After teaching herself to play guitar at a young age and writing her first batch of songs in her teens, Zella began honing a songwriting style rooted in real-life stories but shaped by her infatuation with everything from desert mystique and old spaghetti westerns to the psychedelic culture of ‘60s California. Lacing her lyrical storytelling with sunlit melodies and heavy beats, the L.A.-based artist now delivers her full-length debut with KICKER—an intimate but gorgeously expansive album. Zella explains, “The music’s spiritual resonance is clearly influenced by the Northern Arizona mountains that sheltered my creative energy from any outside implications of city mentality. The creatures I encountered while exploring the depths of my mind and the small town full of secrets all hold great importance to the characterization of this record. One of the most important characters that embody this story is KICKER. “I was a young girl beginning to understand what my existence meant to the world around me, and KICKER was the ranch horseman that was coloring my imagination with the legends of his native culture. I look back now with a realization of how perfect the timing was when he came in to my life; little did I know I was being presented with a divine guidance that led me deeper into the interworking of my creative visions that contribute to my artistry today. -

Six hundred members of the Wings Fun Club were invited along as a live audience to the filming, which took place on Wednesday 23 June 1982. The band comprised Paul on bass, Eric Stewart on lead, George Martin on electric piano, Ringo and Steve Gadd on drums, Linda on tambourine and the horn section from the Q Tips. In between the various takes of 'Take It Away' Paul and his band played several numbers to entertain the audience, including 'Lucille', 'Bo Diddley', 'Peggy Sue', 'Send Me Some Lovin", 'Twenty Flight Rock', 'Cut Across Shorty', 'Reeling And Rocking', 'Searching' and 'Hallelujah I Love Her So'. The promotional film made its debut on Top Of The Pops on Thursday 15 July 1982. This continues to be part of Paul’s repertoire for his live shows. George Harrison – All Those Years Ago This particular track is a puzzle still somewhat unsolved. Originally written for Ringo with different lyrics, (which Ringo didn’t think was right for him), the lyrics were rewritten after John Lennon’s murder. Although Ringo did provide drums, there is a dispute as to whether Paul, Linda and Denny did backing vocals at Friar Park, or in their own studio – hence phoning it in. But Paul insists that he had asked George to play on his own track, Wanderlust, for the Tug Of War album. Having arrived at George’s Friar Park estate, they instead focused on backing vocals for All Those Years Ago. It’s going to be much well-rounded for the live perfor- mances.” Growing up in the small town of Pinetop in Arizona which has a population of 5,000, Day was the only kid she knew her age who was making music. “There wasn’t much of a music scene. It has surfaCed on some bootlegs and can also be heard in a BROW that was posted baCk in 2008. “From A Window” – Billy J. Kramer & The Dakotas: Released on a Parlophone single on July 17, 1964 in the U.K. and an Imperial single in the U.S. on August 12, 1964. The song was produCed by George Martin. John Lennon and Paul MCCartney attended the session on May 29, 1964 and although no Beatle-performed demos of this traCk have surfaCed, Paul MCCartney Can be heard singing the high G note at the end of the song himself (“…niiiight”) right on the record because Billy J. Kramer had trouble hitting the note. Nobody I Know” – Peter and Gordon: Released as a U.K. Parlophone single on May 29, 1964 and on Capitol in the U.S. on June 15, 1964. ReCorded by Peter and Gordon on January 21, 1964. The Beatles never reCorded this song.
