Almost all people, one may be sure, can recall some act of deviance from their own experience, they have committed either knowingly or unknowingly. This paper deals chiefly with the psychoanalysis in the characteristics of one particularly macabre sexual disorder – Necrophilia. Necrophilia, which is the erotic attraction to or obsessive fascination with death and corpses8, as far as we know is the rarest of all the perversions, nevertheless it expresses succinctly a facet of the perverse strategy that is common to all perversions. In its larger meaning this perversion is about the deadening and dehumanization of otherwise humanly alive and therefore threateningly dangerous or unpredictable desires. Especially alarming are those who murder to obtain a body for subsequent sexual violation (e.g. Dennis Nilsen). Researchers dealing with this study on necrophilia have conducted their investigations by psychoanalytic approach of the existing literature and an aggregation of data from the case histories to draw generalizations of the typology of the characteristics of these necrophiliacs. Keywords: Necrophilia, Psychoanalysis, Characteristics Introduction who we are and how we define ourselves and evolve sexually. Taboo: Why are Real-Life British Serial Killers Rarely Represented on Film? Antony Robert Earnshaw Sheffield Hallam University MA English by Research September 2017 1 Abstract This thesis assesses changing British attitudes to the dramatisation of crimes committed by domestic serial killers and highlights the dearth of films made in this country on this subject. It discusses the notion of taboos and, using empirical and historical research, illustrates how filmmakers’ attempts to initiate productions have been vetoed by social, cultural and political sensitivities. Comparisons are drawn between the prevalence of such product in the United States and its uncommonness in Britain, emphasising the issues around the importing of similar foreign material for exhibition on British cinema screens and the importance of geographic distance to notions of appropriateness. The influence of the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) is evaluated. This includes a focus on how a central BBFC policy – the so- called 30-year rule of refusing to classify dramatisations of ‘recent’ cases of factual crime – was scrapped and replaced with a case-by-case consideration that allowed for the accommodation of a specific film championing a message of tolerance.

  • The Case of J Effrey Dah M Er
5 THE CASE OF J EFFREY DAH M ER OVERVIEW This chapter specifically addresses the highly publicized case of Jeffrey Dahmer, a serial lust murderer responsible for the death and mutilation of 17 young men. In an attempt to create a working profile, several factors linked to Dahmer's social and family history, sexuality, education, employment status, fantasy system, and criminality are discussed. In Chapter 6, this developmental portrait is linked to the three principal theoretical models discussed within Chapters 3 and 4. Specifically, Chapter 6 explores what insights the motivational, trauma control, and integrative paraphilic typologies offer in their accounts of Jeffrey Dahmer's criminal behavior. This exercise is particularly useful since the goal is to ascertain the extent to which each conceptual schema advances our understanding of serial sexual homicide (i.e., lust murder) and those persons who commit this act. This chapter is divided into two sections. First, several methodological issues germane to our overall assessment of Jeffrey Dahmer are delineated. Given that our approach emphasizes the case study investigatory strategy, a number of remarks relevant to this line of analysis are warranted. Some observations regard- ing the elements of the case study method are specified, several justifications for the selection of a qualitative approach are outlined, and a description of the data is supplied. Second, both historical and biographical information concerning Dahmer's life is provided. These data are sequenced chronologically, commencing with his early childhood development and moving all the way to his violent fantasies, criminal conduct, and paraphilic behaviors. Profiling his case in this way allows 67 68 THE PSYCHOLOGY OF LUST MURDER the reader to assess the merits of the general organization and facilitates a more comprehensive and seamless evaluation within the application work undertaken in Chapter 6.

DEATH SQUADS IN THE U.S.: CONFESSIONS OF A NATIVE GO VERNMENT TERRORIST AMERICA BY WARD CHURCHILL URING THE first half of the 1970s, the American Indian Movement came to the forefront of a drive to realize the rights of treaty-guaran mteed national sovereignty on behalf of North America's indigenous peoples. For the government and major cor porate interests of the United States, this liberatory challenge represented a considerable threat, given on the one hand that Indians possess clear legal and moral rights to the full exercise of self-determination and, on the other hand, that their reserved land base con tains substantial quantities of critical mineral resources. Upwards of half of all known "dome tic" U.S. uranium reserves lie within the boundaries of present-day reservations, as do as much as a quarter of the high grade low sul phur coal, a fifth of the oil and natural gas, and major deposits of copper and other metals. Loss of internal colonial control over these items would confront U.S. elites with significant strategic and economic problems. Predictably, the government set out to liquidate AIM's political effective ness as a means of maintaining and reinforcing its system of administering Indian Country. For a number of reasons, the crux of the conflict came to be situated on the Pine Ridge Sioux GOO sAT WOUNDED KNEE (1973)-KEVJN BARRY MCKIERNAN Reservation, home of the Oglala Lakota people, in what is now the State of South Dakota. • List of Paraphilias
List of paraphilias Paraphilias are sexual interests in objects, situations, or individuals that are atypical. The American Psychiatric Association, in its Paraphilia Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, Fifth Edition (DSM), draws a Specialty Psychiatry distinction between paraphilias (which it describes as atypical sexual interests) and paraphilic disorders (which additionally require the experience of distress or impairment in functioning).[1][2] Some paraphilias have more than one term to describe them, and some terms overlap with others. Paraphilias without DSM codes listed come under DSM 302.9, "Paraphilia NOS (Not Otherwise Specified)". In his 2008 book on sexual pathologies, Anil Aggrawal compiled a list of 547 terms describing paraphilic sexual interests. He cautioned, however, that "not all these paraphilias have necessarily been seen in clinical setups. This may not be because they do not exist, but because they are so innocuous they are never brought to the notice of clinicians or dismissed by them. Like allergies, sexual arousal may occur from anything under the sun, including the sun."[3] Most of the following names for paraphilias, constructed in the nineteenth and especially twentieth centuries from Greek and Latin roots (see List of medical roots, suffixes and prefixes), are used in medical contexts only.
