Leading the way in wheel design and production for over four decades, we pioneered the manufacture of carbon hybrid automotive and monobloc motorcycle wheels, for racing and road use. Today, Dymag Performance Wheels offer a range of carbon, magnesium and alloy wheels for motorcycle racing and road use, as well as our latest creation, the patented BOXSTROM BX Elite® carbon composite automotive wheel. Named in honour of Dymag’s founder Max Boxstrom. The BOXSTROM® carbon barrel, ensures load path optimisation (removing stress raisers) and utilises a sacrificial layer to protect the load path. This is teamed with a high specification forged aluminium centrepiece. The result is a wheel that is up to 40% lighter than forged aluminium and with a 40% lower moment of inertia, improving all elements of driving performance. Drivers will experience faster acceleration, sharper braking, as well as vastly superior road handling; all without compromising safety. Already a huge hit with many leading car manufacturers, the BOXSTROM® is available to the aftermarket as the BX Elite® 7Y and 7X, combining exceptional performance benefits with stunning design. Dymag is expanding into the US aftermarket via a strategic partnership with ADV.1, a subsidiary of the WELD Racing, LLC., and leader in aftermarket performance wheels. Dymag continues to innovate in design, materials and production techniques to further develop our range of performance automotive and motorcycle wheels. In collaboration with our partners, from leading OEMs, the National Composite Centre to global wheel companies, we are already working on the next generation of our products to push the boundaries of design and manufacture to deliver the finest performance wheels available. There were even wire spoke carbon motorcycle wheels for the Ducati Monster and KTM Superduke. In 2004 Dymag launched the 9 spoke Dymag Carbon Composite wheel, based on a hybrid design, initially with magnesium and later with a forged aluminium spoke system. For more than 115 years Renault has embraced the challenge of motorsport in multiple guises. It recognised the value of competitive activities for technical and commercial gain: in December 1898 Louis Renault drove the Type A Voiturette up the steepest street in Paris, the rue Lepic. The first orders for the ground-breaking car with direct drive flooded in. In 1902 the nimble, lightweight Type K, fitted with Renault’s first 4-cylinder engine, took victory in the Paris-Vienna rally. Again, many more cars were sold. Going through the years, in 1977 Renault introduced the first-ever turbocharged car to F1.

Ayrton Senna 2 Preface I never met Ayrton Senna but I was a fan. Since his untimely death on May 1, 1994 at Imola, every book imaginable has already been written about him, except for one. The subject of that missing book is contentious because it addresses the fundamental question of what caused Senna’s car to veer off the track at 300km/h on Lap 7 of the San Marino Grand Prix. Tamburello was conceived more than fifteen years ago as a private project to fulfil my own need for understanding. The original project had grown in fits and starts and lay dormant for over a decade until its resurrection when I was approached to publish again my old material on Imola ’94. What began as minor revision of a short article has metamorphosed into a book. I’m painfully aware of the fact that - for many understandable reasons - the cause of Ayrton Senna’s accident remains a sensitive subject, but I feel an obligation towards the wider world to share what I’ve discovered.

  • Forgotten F1 Teams – Pacific Grand Prix
Forgotten F1 Teams – Pacific Grand Prix You’re listening to Sidepodcast and this is our latest mini series, Forgotten F1 Teams. It’s all very well talKing about BMW, Honda and Williams, but there are teams out there who are important to the history of F1, and yet are not very well Known. Sidepodcast wants to address this problem. Yesterday we talKed about SimteK, today it’s the turn of Pacific Grand Prix. Pacific had been around for a while, racing in some of the lower categories, and they’d done a pretty good job. Team boss Keith Wiggins had experience of racing and as a mechanic, and the moment he set up his team, he had acquired sponsorship from Marlboro, signed up a good Norwegian driver, and secured entry into the Formula Ford championships. The progression was slow but steady, through F2, Formula Ford, F3, and F3000. Pacific’s final year in F3000 saw familiar name David Coulthard driving for them, fighting for the title. He didn’t manage it, however, and Wiggins set his sights on another, more exciting championship – Formula 1. The original aim was to participate in the 1993 championship, but a recession delayed the entry for a year. However, when 1994 arrived, it was full steam ahead. Engine supplier Ilmor were providing a pair of two year old engines, and Wiggins was using some of the leftovers of another failed F1 entry. Early testing signs were not good, the engine didn’t seem to be able to cope, and the chassis had structural problems, but at the opening round in BraZil, Pacific out‐qualified SimteK with one of their cars.

  • Press Kit 2018 // FOREWORD
Press Kit 2018 // FOREWORD It is a great source of pride for Groupe Renault and its employees to see the Renault name once again working its way to the sharp end of Formula 1. Motor racing is an intrinsic part of the Renault DNA and from Formula E races in cities to rallying through to Formula 1, we have always achieved outstanding results. Renault Sport Formula One Team’s ambition is clearly to uphold the outstanding record of the past and the 2017 season has confirmed we are on the right track. We are a team on the rise. We have two very talented drivers who are hungry for results. Enstone is regenerated and the workforce has already increased by more than 35%. At Viry, our long-term commitment in several motorsport categories allows to develop a detailed plan for our facilities. Our investment has so far been successfully translated to the track as we rose from ninth to sixth in the Constructors’ Championship in 2017 and ended the year with the fourth fastest car. The success of the programme in just two years is testament to the resilient plan laid down early in the creation of the team and the strong job done by Cyril and the entire Renault Sport Racing teams. I am convinced year three will take us one step closer to the long-term aim: winning races and challenging for championships. We are equally satisfied with the results we are seeing off-track. Formula 1’s new owners, have developed various marketing initiatives that have enabled the sport to grow into an even bigger brand and engage more closely with fans; steps forward which are incredibly important for us as the only mass market car constructor in the sport.

  • Smoking Gentlemen—How Formula One Has Controlled CO2 Emissions
sustainability Article Smoking Gentlemen—How Formula One Has Controlled CO2 Emissions Paulo Reis Mourao Department of Economics & NIPE, University of Minho, 4700 Braga, Portugal; [email protected] Received: 3 May 2018; Accepted: 29 May 2018; Published: 1 June 2018 Abstract: This article reports estimates of the level of CO2 emissions created by Formula One (F1) cars on Sunday races. Supported by a variety of sources and using Monte Carlo iterations, we obtained values identifying important periods of change. These periods were identified using tests of structural breaks. We observe that the 1966–1970 period (related to the dominance of DFV/Cosworth engines) is associated with an increase in CO2 emissions, whereas the 1992–1995 period (related to lighter and more efficient engines) is associated with a decrease in estimated levels of emitted CO2. Our results do not identify the deep modifications following more “green” regulations in 2009–2011 as a relevant change. Keywords: Formula One; CO2 emissions; fuel; engines; Cosworth 1. Introduction CO2 emissions are currently a generalized concern for most citizens. Environmental issues are also found at the top of citizens’ priorities, as revealed in recently divulged surveys. Several sources of CO2 emissions exist, of which “transportation” activities are not a negligible group. Several works have recently contributed to highlight the relevance of this topic. We are particularly thinking about the works of Fulton et al. [1] or of Centobelli et al. [2], who provided a proper salience for the environmental requirements established by the five main climate change agreements: in 1992, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change; in 1998, the Kyoto Protocol; in 2009, the Copenhagen Accord; in 2012, the Doha Amendment; and in 2015 the Paris Agreement.
