Kindle the Flame 2018 Annual Report Sisters of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary Kindle the Flame 2018 Annual Report A Note of Gratitude to Our Partners in Mission The Sisters of the Presentation strive to place themselves in the path of those needing our love and compassion, through the examples of Jesus and our foundress, Nano Nagle. Your support plays an essential role in this endeavor. We are so grateful for your generous response to our appeals and events throughout the year. We couldn’t serve the poorest and most oppressed without your partnership. Please be assured of our prayers and know that we lift up you and your intentions daily at Mass. We thank God for your role in our ministries. Here are the names of supporters who gave $50 or more through the Office of Mission Advancement during the 2018 calendar year. We can’t list every donor, but please know how much we appreciate every single gift. We pray for all who have contributed in any way, big or small —including those who opted not to be named. If we’ve accidentally omitted you or listed your name incorrectly, we apologize. • X-Cutioner's Song Event
8 A MARVEL HEROIC RPG EVENT BY JAYSON JOLIN 8 X-CUTIONER’S SONG ! This full-featured Event for MARVEL HEROIC ROLEPLAYING is based on the Marvel X- Cutioner Song crossover published between November 1992 and January 1993. It ran through four titles featuring Marvel’s mighty mutants: Uncanny X-Men 294-296 written by Scott Lobdell, X-Factor 84-86 written by Peter David, X-Men 14-16 written by Fabian Nicieza, and X-Force 16-18 also written by Fabian Nicizea. ! This Event is ideally suited for the Trope style of play (see the Civil War Event Book, page CW04, for the rules for Trope play). Have the players select a datafile for each of the X-teams (X- Factor, X-Force, X-Men Blue and X-Men Gold) if they wish to play in this style. This will give them the opportunity to work each side of this conflict, keeping the tension high between the groups even when they come together to fight Stryfe at the Event’s climax. STRUCTURE OF THE EVENT ! X-CUTIONER’S SONG is an event in three Acts. The story centers on the mutant villain Stryfe and his mad plot to inflict vengeance upon Jean Grey and Scott Summers, whom he believes are his parents, and his “spiritual” father, Apocalypse. Encompassing two teams of X-Men, X-Factor and X- Force, this Event gives players tremendous opportunity to flex their mutant muscles and allows the Watcher to run an action-packed storyline that touches of subjects ranging from civil liberties to sibling rivalry.

  • James Mangold's Logan. the End of a Legend
University of Manizales - School of Social Communication and Journalism James Mangold’s Logan. The end of a legend Isabela Saldarriaga Valencia1 Abstract The film Logan, a twilight road movie, supposes the end of an emblematic character in the world of superheroes. It brings a trilogy based on said hero to a close, as well as an anthology associated with a group (X-men) of which he was a member. The present article analyzes the way in which the character is constructed, the staging around a trip that leads to the death and passing through a world marked by a zeal to control monsters. Key words: Road movie; Cinema; Cinematographic analysis; Superheroes. A man has to be what he is, Joel. They don’t break molds. When you’ve killed... You can’t go back... Wrong or not, it’s a brand. A brand can’t be erased. Shane Logan, released in 2017, and directed by James Mamgold, is the last movie in the Wolve- rine trilogy, following X-Men Origins: Wolverine (Hood, 2009), and The Wolverine (Mangold, 2013), and the tenth in the X-Men saga. It is based on the Old Man Logan comic (Millar & McNiven, 2008), and is protagonized by actors who gave life to the most legendary mutants for over ten years: Hugh Jackman, in his role as Logan, also known as Wolverine or Lobenzo, and Patrick Stewart in his tole as Professor Charles Xavier, both in their last appearance on the big screen as these characters. The year is 2029, and we are with an old worn-out Logan who drives a limousine for a living and stays as far from the spotlight as possible.

  • MARVEL POP ART PRODUCTIONS the Classic Marvel Comics Group—Set in the Modern Day
MARVEL POP ART PRODUCTIONS The Classic Marvel Comics Group—Set in the Modern Day A Proposal by Carlton J Donaghe This is a proposal for a line of giant, magazine-sized Marvel Comics, published for an all-ages, general market under the banner ‘Marvel Pop Art Productions.’ This line doesn’t replace any imprint currently published by Marvel. Instead, this self- contained set of 12 monthly titles will present a modernized version of the original Marvel Comics Group (with some later characters thrown in) packaged into an easily- accessible product designed for the general distribution market. The depiction of Marvel’s most recognizable characters in their well-known original costumes and settings will both benefit from and promote the continued use of the classic comics in merchandise and licensing. Format Each issue of every title will contain three 20-page comics, each comic with its own interior cover page and two-page spread of introductions and recaps using art from previous issues. In addition, every issue will contain a set of features, called the FOOM (Friends Of Ol’ Marvel) Pages—all in a single format, pulling the entire line together, making every one of the twelve titles an individual part of a single, sprawling epic. The front cover of each title will be a modernized version of the classic Marvel Comics Group format from the mid-1960’s, decorated with captions and blurbs in boxes, circles and arrows, and an action-oriented cover, drawn by a regular rotation of the three interior artists, depicting an exciting scene from their own story in the moment it is happening.
