Virginia’s Long-Range Multimodal Transportation Plan VTrans2035 Report to the Governor and General Assembly Prepared for: Commonwealth Transportation Board Prepared by: Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment January 2010 PREFACE Section 33.1-23.03 of the Code of Virginia directs the Commonwealth Transportation Board, with the assistance of the Office of Intermodal Planning and Investment, to develop a Statewide Transportation Plan (hereafter, VTrans2035) setting forth an assessment of capacity needs for all corridors of statewide significance, regional networks, and improvements to promote urban development areas (Appendix A). Secretary of Transportation Pierce R. Homer created an Executive Oversight Committee, consisting of the Office of the Secretary of Transportation and the heads of the Department of Aviation, Department of Transportation, Department of Rail and Public Transportation, Department of Motor Vehicles and the Virginia Port Authority to help guide the development of VTrans2035. Secretary Homer also created a Multimodal Advisory Committee consisting of technical experts and policy makers to provide the technical expertise required to develop VTrans2035.
