Abstract: For the sustainable development of the Korean Professional Baseball League (a.k.a., KBO League), it is critical to propose profitable and efficient pricing strategies for each team in the KBO League. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to understand KBO League fans’ perceptions of price sensitivity. More specifically, this study explored how fans’ perceptions of price sensitivity and latitude of price acceptance vary between different loyalty groups. A total of 213 valid responses were recruited from KBO League fans by using a convenience sampling approach. As a result, based on the levels of attitudinal loyalty and behavioral loyalty, fans were classified into four categories: loyal fans, latent fans, spurious fans, and indifferent fans. Moreover, loyal fans were found to be less sensitive to the ticket price increase of different levels (i.e., 10%, 20%, and 30%), followed by latent fans, spurious fans, and indifferent fans. Meanwhile, loyal fans have the highest level of the latitude of price acceptance, followed by latent fans, spurious fan, and indifferent fans.

The Journal of Applied Business Research – March/April 2021 Volume 37, Number 2 An Examination On Factors That Influence The Creation Of Economic Value Added To The Professional Teams: Focusing On Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) Kyong Jin Ko, Korea Institute of Sport Science, Republic of Korea Sanghyun Park, Yonsei University, Republic of Korea Seongyeon Shin, Korea Institute of Sport Science, Republic of Korea ABSTRACT The research seeks to derive the economic value added (EVA) of 6 franchises from the Korea Baseball Organization (KBO) and concurrently investigate the revenue components contributing to EVA. EVA is regarded as one of the efficient methods on estimating or assessing corporations’ actual economic benefits. For the procedure, financial statements of domestic professional baseball teams for 3 consecutive years (2016-2018), which were released to the Data Analysis Retrieval and Transfer System (DART) of the Financial Supervisory Service (FSS), were utilized. First, NOPLAT, IC, ROIC, and WACC, which refer to essential elements of estimating the EVA, were calculated respectively. Second, Pearson's correlation analysis was conducted between the EVA and the profit indicated in the income statement of the 6 teams. The results of the study are as follows: In case of Doosan, LG and SK, main business revenues showed the highest correlation with EVA, and Kiwoom and Samsung showed the highest correlation with EVA through the contributing factor of ticket sales revenue. Finally, for Lotte, advertising revenue was highly correlated with bringing EVA to the team Keywords: Economic Value Added (EVA); Korea Baseball Organization (KBO); Financial Statement; Revenue Component INTRODUCTION n the period in which capital mobility and investment have been active all over the world, corporate value traditionally provides useful information to investors and creditors and contributes to making reasonable investment decisions.

  • Another Start
<Editorial> Lee Eun-Sol / Editor-in-Chief / [email protected] Another Start I'm sure you were busy during the last semester. Each of you would have spent summer vacation in your own way. What have you done during the last two months? It could have felt like it was a long time, or a short period to you, I think. Maybe you went on a trip to soothe your tired mind and body, studied, or spent some time volunteering at the swimming championships held at Chosun University. You didn’t have to achieve a grand goal. If you had a good time, that’s enough. It would have been a rewarding vacation. The second semester is just getting started. As the saying goes, "the beginning is half.” Let's make another start, even if nothing has been accomplished. Why don’t you spend this semester with Chosun World? We are preparing for various events starting in September. First of all, we will hold our annual English essay contest. It will help you improve your English composition skills by expressing thoughts in English. Prize money will be also provided, so pay attention to our event. Also during the second semester, we will be recruiting new reporters for Chosun World. Anyone who wants to join us should check our notice! Thank you! <Campus News> Lee Eun-Sol / Editor-in-Chief / [email protected] FINA Comes to Chosun University High diving, a popular event for the 2019 Gwangju World Swimming Championships, was held with great success. It was held from July 22 to 24 at a temporary stadium in the center of the Chosun University campus.
