Espaldon ~ Telo Taitag~ U Relative to congratulating the Republic of China (Taiwan) on its Ninety-Ninth (99th) "Double-Tenth National Day" and commending the Chinese Community of Guam for their much appreciated contributions and resolve to solidify relations with the People of Guam. 1 BE IT RESOLVED BY I MINA'TRENTA NA LIHESLATURAN 2 GuAlfAN: 3 WHEREAS, on October 08, 2010, the People of Taiwan will celebrate the 4 Ninety-Eighth (98th) 'Double-Tenth National Day' of the Republic of China 5 (Taiwan), a day that commemorates the triumph over Ching Dynasty and the 6 beginning of the Republic of China under the leadership of Dr. Sun Yat-Sen; 7 and 8 WHEREAS, the people of Guam along with the people of Taipei city, 9 have shared a special Sister-City bond that has benefited the people of Guam 10 through its cultural exchanges and economic investments since 1973; and 1 WHEREAS, with the strong Sister-city connection, that has lasted for 2 more than three decades, has translated hundreds of millions of dollars in 3 investments on island which the people of Guam are grateful for; and 4 WHEREAS, more than thirty-two thousand (32,000) tourists from 5 Taiwan have come to visit our island this year, fostering the growth of our 6 primary industry, tourism; and 7 WHEREAS, the Chinese Community on Guam continue to be at the 8 heart of various community projects throughout our island under the United 9 Chinese Association of Guam, the Chinese Chamber of Commerce of Guam, 10 the Confucius Society of Guam, and the Chinese Ladies Association of Guam 11 in which our island has embraced the Chinese culture and the generosity the 12 Chinese Community of Guam has extend our people; and 13 WHEREAS, we the People of Guam, both from the government 14 workforce and private sectors recognize the continued efforts, determination, 15 commitments and labor the various Chinese organizations contribute to the 16 Island and its families; now therefore, be it 17 RESOLVED, that IMina' Trenta Na Liheslaturan Gudhan does hereby, on 18 behalf of the people of Guam, congratulate The Republic of China (Taiwan) on 19 the occasion of its Ninety-Ninth (99th) 'Double-Tenth National Day'; and be it 20 further 21 RESOLVED, that the Speaker certify, and the Secretary of the 22 Legislature attest to, the adoption hereof, and that copies of the same be , 1 thereafter transmitted to, His Excellency Ma Ying-jeou, President of the 2 Republic of China (Taiwan); to the Honorable Yang Chin-ten, Minister of 3 Foreign Affairs; to the Honorable Jason Yuan, Representative, Taipei 4 Economic and Cultural Representative Office in Washington, D.C.; to the 5 Honorable Hau Lung-bin, Mayor of Taipei; to the Honorable Wu Bi-chu, 6 Speaker, Taipei City Council; to the Honorable Vince Tsai, Director-General, 7 Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Guam; to Mr. Joseph Hsu, President of 8 the United Chinese Association of Guam; and to the Honorable Felix P. 9 Camacho, I Maga'lahen Guahan. .
