This was a lengthy conference covering a numbe of general topics with regard to civil rights. Briefly, Wilkins was pleased with the E Director's personaltrip to Mississippi to open theJackson Office, expressing the feeling that this had greatly restored the iaith of the Negro people in the FBI. Willd explained there are two groups in the Negro movement responsible for criticism of the FBI. One group would not change its tactics no matter what miracle the FBI might bring about, and prominent in this group are Martin Luther King, Jr.; oi the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee SNV CC!; James Forman - of the same group; ; and Clarence Jones, formerly connected with the Ghsndi Society for Human Rights. He felt that these individuals deliberately fcrnent trouble in order to add to their own stature and that it is wrong for the Government and the President to attempt to pacify these people. The Director approved the implementation of these recommendations where possible.

Wilkins indicated his desire to stay on for many years with the M-LAC commenting that only about one-fifth oi the 60 individuals on the Executive Board have criticized him for not being loud enough or militant enough in protesting clirci-imination and unequal rights.
