Founded in 1945, FAO is the first specialized agency with a mandate to cover all aspects of food and agriculture. Reaching #ZeroHunger has been at the heart of our mission from the very beginning. We work in 130 countries, mainly in rural areas—home to nearly 80 percent of the world’s poor and hungry. We support countries in their efforts to achieve the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and work towards ending hunger
