A Candidate’s Letter to the Voters - April 1, 2021 As a candidate for At-Large City Councilman, I wanted to take time to address and speak with candor to my friends, neighbors and all the citizens of Eufaula. This election is being campaigned by my opponents and a special interest group as an election about the best form of government for Eufaula, and that anything short of their view would result in a return to a noprogressinve stagnant city managed by uneducated, unqualified citizens. When the power is in the hands of a single individual or a small group of powerful elite individuals, the consequences will be that these people dominate by force - not by popular citizen sup- port. I can make arguments for the specific forms of government all day and provide the pros and cons of each system, and I assure you there are positives and negatives to both forms. The most crucial concern for the Eufaula citizens should be who is the individual in this leadership position for the city. The person serving in the role of either city manager or may- or must manage responsibly. Either one of these officials should be trustworthy, respectful, ethical and have a good approachable character and integrity and possess the ability to communicate with the city council and the public in general. I would remind the citizens this election is about electing people who are committed to listen and evaluate programs, policies, establish long-term and short-term objectives and set priorities and analyze financial budgets. All these func- tions affect the city’s operations, the people, and the entire community we serve. It is absurd to imply and make accusations that we, the citizens of Eufaula, and candidates for City Council do not want Eufaula to experience development, growth and to move forward. After all, we live here, work here, shop here, and send our children to school here. We want the essential working utilities - water, sewer, garbage, natural gas and electricity, safety for citizens, employment opportunities, health and wellness opportunities, social/recreational attrac- tions, and a sense of community. I will pledge to the voters; a special interest group will not dictate to me how I perform my duties as a councilman. The “good ole boy” is not going to set back and let the citizens get overpowered and strong-armed by a select few.

Victory of this Election will belong to the Voters VoTE ApRIL 6, 2021
