Our annual Mini World Cup is now in its 30th year and each year the event continues to grow. Our Club has been committed to encouraging the growth of soccer within our community for over 40 years. The Club fields 53 schoolboy/girl soccer teams and plays its 11-a-side fixtures in Rosemount, Dundrum. Our small sided games are played in Deerpark and Stillorgan Heath. Merrion Youths Football Club is a community based club which provides young people with the opportunity to participate in structured football in the local area. The Club encourages its players to play at the highest level possible recognising their skills and abilities. Our aim is to provide a facility where players from the age of five, can develop their skills and reach their full potential in a safe and professional environment The establishment of our partnership with UCD AFC has opened up huge opportunities for all of our members as we continue to move forward. We are proud of our achievements and the contribution the Club has made, and continues to make, to our players, former players and to the local community. As a club we will continue to develop our potential and we look to the future with confidence and optimism. Celine was a wonderful person who brought focus, fairness and plenty of energy to the running of the Club. She was also a great believer in ensuring girl’s football was treated no diﬀerently to the boys and that legacy lives on in the Club today. She was very involved for many years in the running of the Club at all levels particularly the Mini World Cup. Thousands of kids and parents in the wider community would have met or seen Celine and Pete giving a helping hand throughout the club. Her husband Pete, is still an active coach in the club. Celine’s enduring memory and legacy will continue to live on not just within Mount Merrion Youths FC and the wider community but especially during our annual Mini World Cup week. Our continued thoughts and prayers are with Celine’s family Pete, Colm, Ciara and Conor. Ar dheis De go raibh a hanam.
