25,000 families benefit from QC’s medical centre in Attock

Qatar Charity (QC) has said more than 25,000 families have benefited from Al Jaber Medical Centre in ’s Attock, which was set up with a donation from a Qatari philanthropist. The centre, inaugurated last year by QC, functions round the clock to provide “high- quality healthcare services” to beneficiaries, the charity has said in a statement. The facility, which was built at a total cost of QR438,400, is located in Attock in Pakistan’s Punjab region and consists of two floors. The first floor includes a patient waiting area, reception hall and medical exami- nation rooms, while the second floor has rooms for gynaecology, pharmacy and laboratory. The centre has advanced medical equipment such as an X-ray machine, ultrasound machine, obstetrics and gynaecology equipment, surgical instruments and other necessary equipment, the statement notes. Al Jaber Medical Centre is located in an area where people, particularly women, have severely suffered from shortage of healthcare services and could not access medical treatment because of poverty, QC pointed out. Qatar Charity established the centre in response to their needs, contributing to humanitarian and develop- ment eff orts in Pakistan, the statement noted. “Qatar Charity attaches great importance to the health sector, taking into account people’s needs. It aims at supporting local development in Pakistan, particularly the health sector, education, water and sanitation, etc,” said Amin Abdul-Rahman, the director of QC’s off ice in Pakistan. The centre “seeks to provide high-quality general medical and gynaecological services at a subsidised cost as well as emergency services throughout the week, and services for the poor and general public”. It also works to reduce the maternal and infant mortality rate in Attock by providing “services close to the popula- tion in a timely manner”. The diabetes and ophthalmol- ogy clinics, as well as the diagnostic laboratory at the centre, have “brought about a value-addition to the region and helped reduce diabetes and eye problems”, the state- ment adds. In association with its Qa- tar partner Mannai Automotive Group, GMC — a leading truck and SUV manufacturer — was for the second year the offi cial automotive sponsor for AADC last month. The event was a “perfect opportunity” to promote GMC’s ‘Like A Pro’ campaign, which is evolving out of its, ‘We Are Professional Grade’ position- ing in the Middle East, according to a press statement. The campaign celebrates GMC vehicles and customers who “passionately live life to a higher standard”. Qatar’s economic strength and resilience have yet again come in for praise from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), which said the country’s strategic plans to diversify its economy away from oil and gas are bearing fruits. At a recent meeting with a high-level Qatari delegation led by HE the Minister of Economy and Commerce Sheikh Ahmed bin Jassim bin Mohamed al-Thani in Washington, DC, IMF deputy director general Tao Zhang praised the economic policies pursued by Qatar and its success in South Korea and the tackling economic crises that plagued the global economy. The IMF offi cial noted that Qatar has adopted “ambitious strategic plans” to diversify its economy away from oil and gas by increasing the non-oil sector’s contribution to the macro economy and reducing reliance on hydrocarbon revenues. end of US credibility He touched upon the economic reforms carried out by Qatar recently and compared that with the global economic settled agreements, why should any growth and that of the developed and developing economies. Qatar Rail recently posted images on its Twitter page of diff erent works being carried out on its projects. While one picture shows elevators being installed at the interchange level between the Metro and Tram sections of the Lusail station, another is about power and control cabling/termination work moving ahead for the chiller units of the Qatar University station’s air-conditioning system. A third picture is about external architectural fit-out works taking place simultaneously from the grade to roof level; these include such as roof, glass facade, lattice mesh installation and station cladding framing works, Qatar Rail has said.
