Janetschek) Als Untersuchungsgebiet wählte Verfasser einen Standort west- lich von Innsbruck im Gemeindegebiet von Zirl (Tirol, Österreich) am Fuße der bekannten Martinswand am westlichen Hechen- bergsüdabfall zwischen Martinsbühel und Pilgerschrofen. Dort er- streckt sich ein S-exponierter Hang vom Flußbett des Inns von ca. 580 m bis unterhalb der Gallerie der Eisenbahnlinie Innsbruck-See- feld in ca. 820 m (Abb. 1-)). Geologisch liegt das Untersuchungsgebiet ganz im Bereich des triadischen Wettersteinkalkes und schmaler Ein- schaltungen von weichen Partnachschichten. Nur stellenweise hat sich auf Hangschutt eine dünne Bodendecke bilden können. Meteorologi- sche Daten können nur aus einigen umliegenden Stationen wie Hoch- zirl, Völs oder Innsbruck-Flughafen entnommen werden (siehe F 1 i r i, 1975). Schon Handel-Mazetti (1939) rechnet das Ge- biet des Hechenberges zur Oberinntaler Trockenzone. Die durch- schnittliche Jahresniederschlagsmenge (1931-60) dürfte im Untersu- chungsgebiet bei 700 mm liegen mit Schwerpunkt des Niederschlages im Sommer, die durchschnittliche Jahrestemperatur des Untersu- chungsgebietes ist schwieriger anzugeben, die durchschnittliche Son- denscheindauer in "/o der lokal horizontbedingt möglichen dürfte im Jahr etwas über 50 ^/o betragen. Die Vegetation besteht im Bereich des Innufers aus einem wenige Meter breiten Alnus incana-Augürtel mit eingestreuten Populus nig- ra, P. tremula und Salix sp. Bäumen, ansteigend kleine anthropogen beeinflußte Steilwiesen mit Carduus und Cirsium-Arten bis zur Bun- desstraße und im steilen Hang mit kleinen Felswänden und schottri- gen Bachbetten Trockenwiesen mit Stipa sp., Glohularia cordijolia, Dorycnium germanicum etc. -

A checklist of 99 Longhorn beetle species (Cer- rambycidae of Tomskaya oblast [Kuleshov, Romanen- ambycidae) from 59 genera occurring in Tyumenskaya Oblast ko, 2009]. of Russia, compiled on the basis of author’s material, muse- The data on the fauna of longicorn beetles of the um collections and literature sources, is presented. Eleven Tyumenskaya oblast are fragmentary. Ernest Chiki gave species, Dinoptera collaris (Linnaeus, 1758), Pachytodes the first references of the Cerambycidae of Tyumen erraticus (Dalman, 1817), Stenurella bifasciata (Müller, 1776), Tetropium gracilicorne Reitter, 1889, Spondylis bu- oblast at the beginning of the XX century. He indicated prestoides (Linnaeus, 1758), Pronocera sibirica (Gebler, 11 species and noted in general the northern character 1848), Semanotus undatus (Linnaeus, 1758), Monochamus of the enthomofauna of the region [Csíki, 1901]. -

The LHB community signifies high relevance of biodiversity and conservation status of several specific habitats as well as at the landscape level, owing to their ecological position in a variety of habitats across the landscape. The current study focused on LHBs, since there exists with well-organized and structured data sets on their distribution and abundance over the last two hundred years. The present study focused on discerning the influence of different land uses and land cover parameters on the distribution of certain long horn beetles over different landscapes in Sweden. The main objective was to understand the different aspects to be considered in suggesting inputs for biodiversity conservation in the Swedish forest landscape. -

Modern Ecological and Palaeoecological Contributions Towards
Postglacial Colonization Conference: Mind the Gap 2006 An ever-closing gap? Modern ecological and palaeoecological contributions towards understanding the Irish post-glacial insect fauna EILEEN REILLY* Botany Department, School of Natural Sciences, University of Dublin, Trinity College, Dublin 2 Over the last 25 years, since the 1983 conference, a range of new evidence has emerged on the changing nature of the post-glacial insect fauna of Ireland. Modern entomological research, especially new surveys and re-evaluation of existing collections, is continually improving our understanding of the Irish fauna (e.g. Alexander 2002, Speight 2004). However, findings from palaeoentomological analyses, particularly sub-fossil beetle remains, from various locations throughout Ireland have been particularly illuminating in filling gaps in our knowledge (e.g. Reilly 2005, Whitehouse 2006). This paper will attempt to evaluate these findings in order to address the following questions: " Do we know more now than we did in 1983 about the Irish native insect fauna? " Do we know more about colonization, dispersal mechanisms and extinctions of this fauna? " What gaps still exist in our knowledge and how do we fill them? Background At the 1983 conference, two contributors, Martin Speight and T.K. McCarthy, discussed the general state of knowledge at that time regarding the Irish postglacial insect fauna (Speight 1986, McCarthy 1986). The following key points were identified: The present day Irish fauna of approximately 14 000 species represented gradual accretion over 10 000 years and was highly mobile for the most part. It was generally depauperate in nature compared to Great Britain or north-western Europe and many groups were poorly represented, particularly among terrestrial insects. -

Silva Balcanica, 19(3)/2018 DOI: 10.6084/m9.figshare.8198282 A CHECK LIST AND AREALOGRAPHY OF LONGHORN BEETLES (COLEOPTERA: CERAMBYCIDAE) IN VITOSHA MOUNTAIN Pavel Topalov Forest Research Institute - Sofia Bulgarian Academy of Sciences Abstract The analysis of literature data and studies of original biological materials showed that the complex of longhorn beetles in Vitosha Mt. includes 122 taxa from six subfamilies: Prioninae (2 species), Lepturinae (37 species and subspecies), Necydalinae (2 species), Spondylidinae (7 species and subspecies), Cerambycinae (35 species and subspecies) and Lamiinae (39 species and subspecies). The established taxa belong to 20 zoogeographical categories and 7 complexes. The European complex occupies a dominant position (36.1%), followed by the Palaearctic complex (20.5%). The Mediterranean and Eurosiberian taxa are almost equally presented in the total complex - 12.3% and 13.9%, respectively. However, the cerambycid endemics in Vitosha Mt. (1.6%) have a smaller share compared to endemics for the country (6.8%). Key words: Cerambycidae, areography, Vitosha Mt., Bulgaria INTRODUCTION The cerambycid fauna (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) of Vitosha is relatively well studied due to the proximity of the mountain to Sofia, and the interest of collectors to this taxonomic group. It should be noted, however, that despite the existence of numerous publications and two targeted studies (Migliaccio et al., 2004; Doychev et al., 2009), there is still a lack of knowledge about the species composition, distribution and host plants of the longhorn beetles in the mountain. The aim of this study is to report data about distribution of cerambycids in Vitosha, to represent new records and to make areographic analysis of cerambycid fauna of the Mountain. -
Survey Report and Management Recommendation
Houghton on the Hill, Uppingham Road Verge Survey and Management Recommendations Leicestershire County Council is working with a wide range of Parish Councils and local communities to change the management of selected road verges in order to improve their biodiversity value. The Leicestershire wildlife charity NatureSpot is supporting the project by organising ecological surveys of the verges and by promoting these sites as featured Wild Places on its award-winning website. Details of this verge together with the species recorded during the survey can be viewed at: https://www.naturespot.org.uk/Houghton_Uppingham_Rd_verge Mowing of all verges participating in the project should cease between April and August. A narrow visibility strip may continue to be regularly mown alongside the carraigeway and footpath. 2 SURVEY The verge surveys are primarily focussed on the grasses and wildflowers to be found growing in the verge, though casual fauna sightings may also be recorded. It is important to identify the floral species already present and to assess the quality of the grassland habitat before deciding on ongoing management. All species records from the survey have been submitted through NatureSpot’s website and have been checked by an expert. The records now form part of the Leicestershire and Rutland species database and are shared with local and national recording schemes, the Leicestershire and Rutland Environmental Records Centre and the National Biodiversity Network. SURVEY DATE The survey of this verge was carried on on 7th June by David Nicholls (NatureSpot). SURVEY FINDINGS This verge on the southern side of Uppingham Road is in two parts, bisected by a side road.
