[email protected] In accordance with The Drug-Free Schools and Campuses Regulations (EDGAR Part 86), Lenoir-Rhyne University will conduct a biennial review of alcohol and other drug programs and services. Pursuant to EDGAR Part 86, all institutions of higher education receiving federal funds or financial assistance must develop and implement a program to prevent the unlawful possession, use, or distribution of illicit drugs and alcohol by students and employees. Each institution must conduct a biennial review of the program’s effectiveness and the consistency of the enforcement of sanctions. Description of LR’s Alcohol and Drug Program Lenoir-Rhyne University is committed holistic development of students; mind and spirit. Lenoir-Rhyne recognizes that alcohol and drug misuse creates harm for the individual, for persons impacted by the actions of the individual, as well as for the larger University community. Harms associated with misuse could include legal, academic, social, mental, or physical consequences. It is important to educate all persons associated with Lenoir-Rhyne University of the policies, strategies, education, interventions, and response associated with the prevention of harms that may be caused by misuse of alcohol and other drugs. Lenoir-Rhyne utilizes a multi-layered system of individual, organizational, and environmental approaches to prevent the harms associated with alcohol and drug use. These approaches include awareness and messaging, education (preventive and indicated), training, and resource development.
