Second Grade Music Choice Boards 1) Select 2 of the following 9 choice boards for the entire quarter 2) Make a list, take a picture, or record yourself demonstrating the 2 activities of your choice 3) Share the document with me, either in Google classroom, Gmail, or my school email address Have fun and be musical! Music Choice Boards Information Music will be a recorded lesson in Google classroom that students can view at any time. Students are encouraged to watch and participate to the best of their ability. In addition to watching the videos and participating, students will be given Choice Boards that they may select 2 activities of their choice to complete for the quarter. You can write, type, take a picture, or send a video of yourself completing the activity to your music teacher. The first activity is due October 2. The second activity is due November 13. Choice Board #4: Rhythm Notation Write an 8 measure song/rhythm pattern using all of the notes we have learned: Whole note = 4 beats Half Note = 2 beatsQuarter Note = 1 beat Each measure should only contain 4 beats. Once you have 4 beats for that measure, separate your measures with a bar line ( l ). Use a double bar at the end of your 8 measures ( II ). Perform your piece on either an instrument, a found instrument, by clapping, snapping, or various body percussion. Submit your recorded performance and written composition to your music teacher. Choice Board #5: Adding more to your Music Write an 8 measure song/rhythm pattern using all of the notes we have learned: Whole note = 4 beats Half Note = 2 beats Quarter Note = 1 beat Each measure should only contain 4 beats. Once you have 4 beats for that measure, separate your measures with a bar line ( l ). Use a double bar at the end of your 8 measures ( II ). Choice Board #6: Hidden Symbols Create a musical masterpiece: Draw a picture and “hide” as many musical symbols as you can. Examples of musical symbols are whole notes, half notes, quarter notes, eighth notes, and quarter rests. Your picture can contain just one symbol from the list, or try to hide as many different symbols as you can. Either take a picture of your work and send it through email, or record yourself showing your masterpiece. Choice Board #7 Open the link to “Fun with Rhythms” and follow the directions. When you are finished - add your name and grade level to the file name - save as - and e-mail your work to your teacher. Don’t worry about all the different notes - do your best and have fun!!!
