Sunstate Charters present’s our Day & Speciality Touring brochure for 2017. To freshen up the touring we have been hard at work creating new tours and updating old favourites to increase the choice to you, our valued clients. This year’s big change is the introduction of the speciality touring range, “Sunstate Speciality Tours” listed in the back of the brochure. The speciality touring range includes Coach Travel, Sightseeing, Accommodation and listed meals. Travelling with an experienced Coach Captain who will provide you with a unique travelling experience by providing informative commentary along the way. As always, Sunstate endeavour to provide an enjoyable and safe day out. So to help make your day a special one, please do not hesitate to inform us of any special requirements. Remember we offer a “Create your own adventure” option. This offers the group total flexibility on your own designed and organised itinerary. Present your itinerary to Sunstate Charters and we will quote a price that includes the coach, driver and morning tea (optional) only. This option can mean a cheaper day out for the group depending on your choice of destinations, lunch and tour options. Now where would you like Sunstate Charters to take you today? Discover Redcliffe The day starts with a leisurely drive to the Clontarf Visitors Centre, where we pick up our local guide for the day, before heading over to Pelican Park for morning tea overlooking Bramble Bay. Here we watch the Pelican Checking Program at 10am. We then enjoy a guided tour of everything the Peninsula has to offer. Our local Guide will educate us in some history, show us some points of interest and fascinating facts about the area as we travel the local streets. Some of the sights may include the Botanical Gardens, Bee Gees Way, Redcliffe Jetty, First Settlement Memorial Wall, Scarborough, Newport and the Redcliffe Museum. Around half way we will stop for lunch at Redcliffe RSL Club. You will have a choice of two alternative drop meals from a special menu, followed by dessert with tea or coffee. After lunch we will continue on part two of our guided tour before dropping off our local guide as we head for home. While on board, take in the fresh sea air and beautiful views across the bay. Once on the island we take a short drive to Brown Lake, with its tannin rich brown therapeutic waters. Here we will have morning tea, weather permitting. Next it’s off to the historic town of Dunwich, the Bingle Rd Cemetery and Junner Rd Convict Sites, we find the convict Privy Pit and Site of Convict Barracks and Store. It’s nearly lunch time, so off to Amity Point where you will enjoy lunch at the Sea Shells Café. On the menu is fish, chips and salad followed by dessert with tea or coffee. After lunch we head to one of “Straddies” must see attractions the North Gorge Walk. For those that feel like it, the walk is a great opportunity to stretch the legs on the trail. The complete circuit will take approximately 30 mins to walk and takes in the spectacular panoramic views of beaches and the Pacific Ocean. You may even spot dolphins and migrating whales. Maybe grab an ice cream and take in the serenity! The carnival is held in September each year. Today we travel west along the Warrego Highway to the top of the Great Dividing Range taking in the patch work quilted farming landscape of the Lockyer Valley. Our first stop will be the famous Picnic Point where you can experience the breathtaking views while enjoying morning tea. From here you will be taken to a variety of locations including the grand champion gardens. A few of the displays also sell flowers. Lunch will be at the City Golf Club, which offers a buffet style menu with Dessert. Tea/coffee is included. After lunch there are is a few more gardens and parks to view, like Queens Park. Enjoy morning tea at the picnic area at the Visitors Centre. Then re-board the coach and be met by our personal guide for a detailed tour around the Port of Brisbane. The tour will highlight all aspects of the workings of the port and lasts around 1.5 hours, finishing up on the 7 th floor observation deck for expansive views of the port and wetlands. We then head to the Historical Breakfast Creek Hotel for lunch where you will have an alternate drop or pre ordered Menu choice. Then it’s either a short leisurely stroll or drive across the “Breaky Creek” to Newstead House, Brisbane’s oldest surviving residence and an established house museum, decorated and furnished to reflect the late Victorian period, a significant part of Brisbane history. Here you will enjoy a self-guided tour, before we head home. Then a visit to the legendary Rudd’s Pub in Nobby is a must! Travelling through the Lockyer Valley, the ploughed fields creating a patchwork landscape of colour all year round. Morning tea will be at Gatton, on the banks of Lake Apex before heading along Heifer Creek Rd which allows us to climb the picturesque Great Dividing Range without the steep & windy roads. We now find ourselves in Dad & Dave Country, and at the heart you find the historical Rudd’s Pub. It’s here where the tales of Dad & Dave were written by Steele Rudd and there is plenty to do here! Take the time to explore the memorabilia that covers the walls and ceilings or just enjoy a coldie in the Heritage Lounge. Learn the history of Steele Rudd and the iconic Sister Kenny who pioneered the treatment of infantile paralysis. Visit the Sir Kenny Museum for a gold coin donation and the craft shop will also be open. Your group will be able to choose a couple of options for a hearty alternate drop lunch followed by the famous homemade apple crumble, tea and coffee. We finish our scenic drive passing the sights of Cunningham’s Gap as we follow the road through Aratula back to Brisbane. (pre book) Maleny & Montville Hinterlands Enjoy a leisurely drive north taking in the views of the Glasshouse Mountains as we pass Steve Irwin’s Australia Zoo to the Sunshine Coast Hinterlands. Our first stop for today will be the Maleny Cheese Factory where we will learn all about the fine art of cheese making from the Simpson family, 3 rd generation dairy farmers, who with the help of Swiss trained cheese makers produce some of the finest cheeses in Australia. Here you will enjoy a Devonshire Tea and cheese tasting with the opportunity to purchase some of the delicious products. Continuing along the Blackall Range, boasting beautiful views, we make our way to Montville. There you will have ample time to explore all the hidden treasures this little town has on offer, from art galleries to specialty shops, while breathing in the fresh and sometimes crisp mountain air. Bring your own lunch and picnic in the park or choose from many of the terrific Café’s in the iconic mountain village. After a morning tea stop on the way, we head to this beautifully restored building with stunning views for a hearty Christmas lunch and dessert with festive decorations and music in front of the warming fire.
