The Hand Book contains all details with regard to the district profile such as Demography, Industry, Infrastructure, Agriculture, Economic and Social Welfare, Health Education, Rural Development. Transport and Communication, Power and Electricity, Wholesale and Consumer Price Indices. Kandasamy, I.A.S., District Collector, Tiruvannamalai. TNRTP aims to promote rural enterprise development - including rural enterprise promotion, enterprise development, facilitating access to the business development services, access to finance and strengthening the value chain development of the identified commodities, thereby promoting market led economic empowerment of the rural communities and women. It will target households that are organized into community institutional platforms; and will promote “group enterprises” such as - Producer groups and Producer Collectives, and “individual enterprises” - Nano, Micro & Small Enterprises (NMSE). TIRUVANNAMALAI DISTRICT Tiruvannamalai District (Also Known As Thiruvannaamalai) Is One of the 32 Districts in the State of Tamil Nadu, in South India
TIRUVANNAMALAI DISTRICT Tiruvannamalai District (also known as Thiruvannaamalai) is one of the 32 districts in the state of Tamil Nadu, in South India. It was formed in the year 1989 from non-existing North Arcot District as Tiruvannamalai Sambuvarayar and Vellore Ambedkar. Tiruvannamalai town is the district headquarters. The district is divided into 12 Taluks - Chengam, Tiruvannamalai, Polur, Thandarampattu, Aarani, Vandavasi, kalasapakkam, chetpet , Cheyyar and vembakkam . The District lies between 12º 00'00’’to 12º 52’30’Northlatitude and East Longitude 78º 39’30’’ to 79º 45’36’’. The total geographical extent of the area is 6190 Sq.Km. There are 18 Blocks, 860 Villages and 4755 Habitations in the District. A total of 272,569 were under the age of six, constituting 141,205 males and 131,364 females. Tiruvannamalai District has an area of 6,191 km2. It is bounded on the north by Vellore District, on the east by Kanchipuram District, on the south by Villupuram District, and on the west by Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri districts. The previous reviews in this series covering from the First Assembly till Seventh Assembly were published in 1957, 1962, 1967, 1971, 1977, 1980 and 1984. The objective of this Review is to give a complex, yet concise summary of business transacted by the Eighth Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from 16th January 1985 to 30th January 1988. In addition to the business actually transacted in the House, a summary of work done by the Legislature Committees, the Tamil Nadu Branch of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, a brief report on the Presidential Election, one Biennial Election to the Council of States by the Members of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly and one bye-election to the Tamil Nadu Legislative Council have also been included in this Review. References to the Rules of Procedure are also given at the beginning of each Chapter wherever necessary. A Few photographs taken in connection with the important occasions such as Governor's Address, Presentation of Budget and visits of Parliamentary delegations from others countries have also been added. This publication, it is hoped, will be found useful as book of reference to the Secretariat and of interest by all those desiring to study the work turned out during the Eighth Legislative Assembly of Tamil Nadu.
