In the Cardigan district, finds of Armoricochitina reticulifera within strata referred to the clingani graptolite Biozone (morrisi Subzone), together with accessory species, indicate the Fungochitina spinifera chitinozoan Biozone, known from several Ordovician sections in northern England that span the base of the Ashgill Series. Tanuchitina ?bergstroemi, eponymous of the succeeding chitinozoan biozone, has tentatively been recovered from strata of Pleurograptus linearis graptolite Biozone age in the Cardigan area. The T. ?bergstroemi Biozone can also be correlated with the type Ashgill Series of northern England. Chitinozoans suggest that the widespread Welsh Basin anoxic–oxic transition at the base of the Nantmel Mudstones Formation in Wales, traditionally equated with the Caradoc–Ashgill boundary, is of Cautleyan (or younger Ashgill) age in the Cardigan area.

To achieve this, we will deliver significant growth in Welsh medium education to increase the number of children and young people who become fluent in both Welsh and English and have the ability to use their languages confidently with their families, in their communities and in the workplace. With this in mind, the Local Authority has a responsibility to provide its communities with the best education and opportunities possible and believes that this can be achieved through set objectives. Carmarthenshire County Council are fully supportive of the aim that all pupils are able to speak, read and write in both Welsh and English fluently by the end of Key Stage 2 and will provide services that will ensure high quality learning opportunities for all Carmarthenshire’s children, young people and adults, thereby enabling them to achieve their full potential as lifetime learners in the context of the unique bilingual nature of the County.

Public in attendance: Steffan Harries, Len Davies, Teleri Bowen, Bethan James, Ffion Harries, Eleri Rees, Siâron Hooper, Katy Brenchley & Elizabeth Cross Recording minutes: Liza Jones (Clerk) 1. Apologies: Eirian Howells, Dyfed Davies & John Phillips 2. Chairman’s Comments: Ambrose Lewis opened the meeting and thanked all for attending. 3. Public Comments: The Chair had been made aware that the public in attendance were concerned with the speed of traffic travelling through the village of Trelech. The Clerk informed all in attendance that she had been in contact with Carmarthenshire County Council with their concerns but had been informed that the village was a low priority for speed calming measures. County Councillor Jean Lewis took to the floor to note that she had also been in contact with the designated departments within the Council that dealt with the issue. Jean informed all that the Council worked in conjunction with Dyfed Powys Police and Mid & West Wales Fire Brigade with regards to traffic calming matters. ‘Counters’ had been placed in the village two years ago with the results being too low to require any implementations. Villagers noted that the previous ‘counters’ had been located in the incorrect area to capture the true picture. Jean noted that she had requested ‘counters’ to be placed in the village again and would arrange a site meeting with the villagers to ensure that they were correctly located.
