The objectives of the IFCMA are four-fold: 1. Promote professional development in the individual martial artist and in the schools. 2. Encourage and foster scholarly research into the Biblical origins and foundations of the martial arts. 3. Provide a platform for international evangelism using the martial arts as a tool for outreach. 4. Foster Christ-centered fellowship among believing martial artists. Yudansha Taigu, which serves as the IFCMA’s governing philosophy, is the principle that in business matters all members share the same rank as the highest rank present. For the IFCMA, this means Jesus Christ holds the highest rank and relationships are based on him, not on a belt-rank system. This provides the unique atmosphere of a Christian family community rather than a merely martial arts community, and the difference is amazing. As brothers and sisters in Christ, we use our talents to build up one another and seek God’s best for each other and our member schools. Funds paid to the IFCMA are used to fund missions and evangelistic ministries. The Lord has blessed our efforts and we have witnessed a steady growth since our beginning. This year we will be holding our 13th Annual Black Belt Seminar and Clinic for black belts of any age. This year’s event will be hosted by the Hebron School of Karate at the spacious Hebron Baptist Church facilities in Dacula, GA. The schedule includes a day for black belt testing and promotions followed by two days of intense and varied training. Trainings come in eight sessions with over 30 workshops, Bible studies, and special events such as the School Leader Round Table. As always, one of our seminar’s central focus is to equip individual and instructors to use martial arts for evangelistic efforts. 3 www.ifcma.org Schedule of Events 13th Annual IFCMA Black Belt Seminar Note: By popular request we have brought back the multiple class format so that if you have conflicting sessions, you will have multiple options to take what you want. The testing board or “Shihon Council” consists of master-level martial artists, representing many different arts, with a combined 200+ years in the martial arts. For many this will be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be tested or evaluated by such a high-level board. This testing and promotion will be of particular value to martial artists who are no longer under the direct mentorship of their teacher or for students who are now ready to be promoted to the same level as their teacher. To be tested and/or evaluated, prior notification is required and due by June 1. To be eligible for testing, a candidate must have: 1. the appropriate time in grade (2 years for 2nd dan, 3 for 3rd dan, 4 for 4th dan, etc.); 2. proof of current rank (certificate, instructor’s statement of affirmation, etc.); 3. belt requirements curriculum; and 4. two letters of endorsement. If you are interested in testing, please register for the seminar or contact Master Angie Fitts at [email protected] as soon as possible in order to make arrangements for testing. 7 www.ifcma.org Instructor Bio & Course Listings Friday and Saturday, June 28th & 29th This year’s Black Belt Seminar will feature multiple sessions with over 20 workshops, taught by highly qualified instructors, providing each participant with opportunities to cross-train in new areas or perfect aspects of his/her own system.
