Class 4 Laser Treatment for Peripheral Neuropathy Jason Hale of Bloxom has been an equipment operator and truck driver for most of his career. At 34, he was suffering from neuropathy in his feet Jason Hale due to lumbar disk degeneration. He said it got so bad he was always in pain with burning and numbness, had trouble with balance, and couldn’t play with his son. All doctors could offer him was surgery and pain medication, which was not what he wanted. He heard about Dr. Bull and the Class 4 laser treatment that increases cell permeability and decided to give it a try. After 12 sessions, he feels he is already 75 percent back to normal and can now feel his feet without pain. He has been very pleased with the results. Dr. Bull’s laser treatment has given him more than traditional medicine could offer with no side effects. WE’RE ON A MISSION TO IMPROVE HEALTH For years, Tracie struggled—losing weight and then gaining it back again. Last summer, she made a commitment to try again. Tracie told us “I’m a woman of faith, but I didn’t have faith in myself. I didn’t really believe I could do it.” But at the Y, Tracie found the support she needed. She started jogging and taking group exercise classes. The more she tried, the more she wanted to keep going. Today, she’s lost over 100 pounds and is healthier and stronger—physically, mentally and spiritually. $0 joining fee Visit JoinTheY.org or stop by your local Sept. 6–26 YMCA for a tour and more information.

Hermitage & United Way team up for an historic $22,000 campaign kick-off Fundraising event! September 23, 2016 • Eastern Shore Post • 19 Eastern Shore Flavor Late Season Salsa a Delicious Way to Use Tomatoes, Peppers By Connie Morrison Summer is waning, the tomato vines are looking scraggly, the pep- pers are going full force, and you’re starting to pray for that first frost because the garden is starting to feel more like a burden than a blessing. What’s a person to do? How about some late season salsa—one that’s heavy on peppers, but light enough to put some bounce back in your step? The recipe below will make the summer linger just a little longer. Have a favorite recipe? Send it along, and maybe we’ll feature it next time on our Eastern Shore Flavor page. Send by email to editor@east - ernshorepost.com, or mail to P.O. Box 517, Onley, VA 23418.

Late Season Salsa Ingredients:

• 6 large or 12 medium tomatoes, cored, seeded, and chopped • 2 cups of grape or cherry tomatoes, chopped • 3 or 4 large sweet garden peppers (a variety of colors - Photo by Linda Cicoira Pig out on late season salsa with ingredients from the waning garden. red, yellow, green or orange works well), diced • Half of a large sweet onion (like Vidalia) or 2 medium on- ions, diced • 1 or 2 jalepeño peppers, finely chopped • 1 lime, juiced • 2 Tbsp. chopped cilantro (optional) • Up to ½ tsp. Tony Chachere’s Creole Seasoning or other similar spicy seasoning with salt (or add salt to taste)

After prepping all ingredients, mix together everything except seasoning (or salt). Once blended, season to taste.

The amount of each vegetable is not crucial just use what you have and enjoy the last tastes from your summer garden.

It went around on an old table top that had lost its legs to a pup my uncle brought home one day. Teething pups do that, it seems. Grandpa removed the legs and used the table to build his winter village for his train. I remember wanting to play with the little people standing on the make-believe snow waiting for the train to come. I also wanted to add to the landscaping and have more houses for the tiny people to live in, but I was just a kid. Worse than that, I was a girl and girls did not get to play with the trains. I saved my gift money and bought a miniature farm, a barn and ani- mals, and a group of horses and rid- ers. I crawled under some shrubbery —which would become the miniature forest — in the backyard and built my own little town that grew with small boxes, scraps of wood, and Grandma’s Photos and miniatures by Jan Siglin spirea to make little hedges.
