swing the ultimate big band download Swing the ultimate big band album ""download"" AMAZING! Dear Alex, Just a quick note to say thank you again for last night's performance, it was amazing. I loved the way you played to the crowd and sensed what got them up dancing. Everyone said how amazing you all were and I will be recommending The Soultastics to all!! Thanks again. BECKY (CHICHESTER YACHT CLUB) ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE! I can't thank The Soultastics enough for playing at our wedding. They were absolutely incredible and really made the party. Thanks to them, all of our guests were up and dancing throughout their set and the atmosphere was fantastic. We had so much fun! They were also on-hand throughout the planning process and were really lovely to work with, helping us choose the set list and playing our requests. The first dance was an incredibly special moment, thanks in large part to them. I'll definitely be recommending The Soultastics in the future. I'm fairly sure half our guests have mentally booked them in for their future events too . Thanks, guys! AMY LAVELLE'S WEDDING. ABSOLUTELY MADE OUR DAY! We had an absolutely amazing day, and the music was such an integral part of it all. The jazz trio sounded fantastic and worked so well in the room we had for the reception drinks (it started while having our photos taken outside and sounded amazing). It was really nice having the piano in the background for the dinner too, all the music being played sounded great and was exactly what we were after, several people commented on how beautiful it was in the old hall. The big band in the evening was probably the best live band we've seen at a wedding - we might be biased as it was our own - but the dance floor wasn't empty all night, and we've had so many people comment both on the night and since then about how good the music was. Swing the ultimate big band album ""download"" Jazz has been called America's classical music, and for good reason. Along with the blues, its forefather, it is one of the first truly indigenous musics to develop in America, yet its unpredictable, risky ventures into improvisation gave it critical cache with scholars that the blues lacked. At the outset, jazz was dance music, performed by swinging big bands. Soon, the dance elements faded into the background and improvisation became the key element of the music. As the genre evolved, the music split into a number of different styles, from the speedy, hard-hitting rhythms of be- bop and the laid-back, mellow harmonies of cool jazz to the jittery, atonal forays of free jazz and the earthy grooves of soul jazz. What tied it all together was a foundation in the blues, a reliance on group interplay and unpredictable improvisation. Throughout the years, and in all the different styles, those are the qualities that defined jazz. ARSENAL. Arsenal had become masters on mixing ethereal Fusion instrumentals with a bit more fascinating and challenging offerings and the result is an atmosphere rarely seen, where Lounge Jazz textures with melodic saxes and discreet synthesizers are met with dense and intricate moves on guitar and keyboards, which can only be found in progressive groups.Of course the band still shows a strong sense of melody with Kozlov's emotional sax tunes in the forefront, offering themes inspired both by Jazz and Classical Music, and a nice supporting team of keyboards, electric piano and electric guitars backing him up.But the album will often sink into a more complex mood with CAMEL and FOCUS underlines, the guitars become more pronounced, the keyboard work alternates between light electric piano and sharper synthesizers and then come Kozlov's turn for a more emphatic sax performance. And then there is some touch of humour and joy in the process, like on ''Funky-Charleston'' and the overall vintage style of funky and 30's-flavored tunes and the following ''Provincial tango'' with the Latin-spiced touches and the surprising use of an accordion.I am quite surprised by the instrumental diversity of this classic Russian combo, while Jazz seems to be the main source of inspiration, there is so much going one here to simplify the music as Jazz-Fusion.Symphonic keyboards, ethnic tunes and even beats of Electronic Music pop up here and there. While not flawless or masterful, ''Second wind'' is definitely a winner among Fusion releases of the mid-80's, keeping the spirit of adventurous music up high.Recommended to all fans of jazzy Prog Rock or instrumental Fusion. 3.5 stars. In all, a worthy addition to the jazzrock-fusion canon - the fact they are Russian is an interesting side note. Review by apps79 Special Collaborator Honorary Collaborator. The opening ''Mystery'' kicks off with an elegant acoustic crescendo by Victor Zintchuk, having a slight Spanish feel, before tormenting into a frenetic Space/Fusion style with ecstatic keyboards by V. Gorsky and a generally very furious instrumental approach. The following ''Dedication to Mahavishnu'' has some things in common with the beautiful atmospheres created by the pioneers of Jazz/Fusion, musically though it stands closer to the RETURN TO FOREVER school of Fusion, including spacey background synthesizers, complex/funky bass lines, jazzy electric guitar solos and plenty of electric piano exercises.''Light on the Way'' follows more or less the same vein , just being a little bit more tropical, with breezy synthesizers and acoustic guitars and a good sitar solo in the middle.''Suite in F Minor'' shows the strong connections of Kozlov with Classical Music. The ethereal opening piano prelude and the supporting synths meet Kozlov's melodic sax lines to lead the composition in a fresh and melodic Fusion style with symphonic keyboards next to an improvised sax solo.Soon Arsenal will find again their way into a more synth-drenched Fusion style, typical sound of the age, with long, stretched solos and Kozlov's sax always in evidence. In a questionable move, the CD reissue contains four already released tracks by Arsenal, all contained in the next few regular releases of the band. However all are very good with nice melodic moves, technical synth textures, FOCUS/CAMEL-like jazzy guitars and even some evident Classical inspirations, closer to the style of their debut, and are definitely recommended. ''Created with their own hands'' is a certain twist by Arsenal towards more Fusion realms. The composing level remains very high, though the lack of an evident progressive direction make this less worthy than their very good debut.Still parts of its instrumental madness, especially the first and last track, are amazing and this is a pretty good reason to purchase the album.Warmly recommended. Transatlantic - the prog supergroup of Neal Morse, , & - released their fifth studio album, The Absolute Universe, on February 5th. Representing the band’s first new music since 2014’s Kaleidoscope, with The Absolute Universe the band have done something unique and created two versions of the record: The Absolute Universe: The Breath Of Life (Abridged Version) & The Absolute Universe: Forevermore (Extended Version). Each album is available on CD, LP & digitally. But there will also be what has been called The Absolute Universe: The Ultimate Edition, which collects both versions together in one lavish package that includes 5LPs, 3CDs & a Blu-ray that contains a 5.1 surround sound mix with visuals & a behind the scenes documentary. All editions have unique artwork created by Thomas Ewerhard featuring the airship by Pavel Zhovba. As Mike Portnoy explains: “We've got two versions of this album. There is a two CD presentation, which is 90 minutes long, and a single one - that's 60 minutes. However, the single CD is NOT merely an edited version of the double CD. They each contain alternate versions and even in some cases, new recordings. We wrote fresh lyrics and have different people singing on the single CD version tracks as compared to those on the double CD. Some of the song titles have also been changed, while others might remain the same, but compositionally what you'll hear has been altered. You must appreciate that what we have done is unique. We revamped the songs to make the two versions different.” Pete Trewavas adds: “We did write some new music for the single CD, what's more, there are also differences in the instruments used on some of the tracks across the two records.” The full list of formats is below. As Portnoy explains: “Over a period of 10-14 days, we mapped out the songs. Then we all went back to our home studios and did the recording. That's the way we always do it. At one point, though, it was suggested that instead of doing what was by that time going to be a double album, we should just be content to do a single CD.” “What happened was that everything kept expanding and expanding,” recalls Stolt. “Therefore we decided it made sense to make it a double album. It was Pete and Neal who then came out and said they felt this would be too long, and we should reduce it to one…But we were already recording, and it didn't seem feasible to cut it back. There were so many pieces that each of us loved in what we were planning and didn't want to lose. That's when we ended up in discussions over the best way forward.” This album also marks a return to the concept album for Transatlantic. “Well, the idea of Transatlantic deciding to do a concept record this time around won't shock anyone, right?” laughs Portnoy. “What we have is essentially one giant composition, split into chapters. The storyline is about the struggles facing everyone in society today.” “We didn't start out with the idea of this being conceptual,” admits Stolt. “The way things work with us is that we have a load of ideas, and these are developed spontaneously when we meet up. Everything happens in the moment.” So, how does this new ground-breaking album compare to Transatlantic's previous four albums? “I always try not to compare albums as much as possible,” insists Morse. “It’s very difficult when you’re trying to be creative, because your natural instinct is to constantly compare. But in order to create you have to kind of step away from that. Having said that, I would say this would have more in common with '' album (the band's third, from 2009) than others that we’ve created.” For Trewavas, 'The Absolute Universe' is a momentous project. “I think it is right up there with the very finest albums we've done. As the others have said, it compares very well to 'The Whirlwind', which I believe represents Transatlantic at our best. As on that album, we took our time to write and arrange everything, and that shines through. I am very excited for people to hear it.” Transatlantic were originally formed in 1999, releasing their debut album SMTPe the following year as well as its follow-up in 2001. Following a 7-year hiatus, the band reconvened to record and release the much-acclaimed epic 77-minute, single-track album The Whirlwind followed by a world tour in 2010 which included an appearance at High Voltage Festival in London where they were joined by legendary Genesis guitarist Steve Hackett. The band’s fourth album Kaleidoscope arrived in 2014, going on to win ‘Album Of The Year’ at the Progressive Music Awards.
