STAFF REPORT April 12, 2006 To: Works Committee From: Gary Welsh, General Manager, Transportation Services Subject: Potential to increase the Number of Taxi Stands Adjacent to TTC Subway Stations (All Wards) Purpose: To respond to a request from City Council for a report on the feasibility of increasing the number of Taxi Stands in the vicinity of Subway Stations. Financial Implications and Impact Statement: The funds associated with the introduction of the appropriate regulatory signage are contained in the approved Transportation Services Division 2006 Operating Budget. Recommendations: It is recommended that: (1) the following 26 new Taxi Stands as described in Attachment #1, be established in the vicinity of Toronto Transit Commission (TTC) Subway Stations; and (2) the appropriate City officials be authorized and directed to take the necessary action to give effect thereto, including the introduction in Council of any bills that may be required. Background: City Council, at its meeting held on May 17, 18 and 19, 2005, in adopting Consolidated Clause 16 (j) in Works Committee Report 5, requested that Transportation Services staff report to the Works Committee on the feasibility of increasing the number of Taxi Stands around TTC Subway Stations, and further that representatives of the Taxi industry, in particular Ms. Souter, General Manager of Beck Taxi, be invited to depute on the item. - 2 - Comments: The issue of designating Taxi Stands in the vicinity of Subway Stations was last dealt with by the former Metropolitan Toronto Council in February, 1992. At that time, the former area municipalities were requested to implement designated Taxi Stands at Subway Station locations. -

Entrance Connection to Dundas Station
Report for Action Entrance Connection to Dundas Station Date: March 20, 2018 To: TTC Board From: Chief Capital Officer Summary This report requests the Board's approval for a new entrance connection to Dundas Station on Line 1 through the proposed building renovation at 595 Bay Street (Atrium on Bay). As a result of the new entrance connection, the existing open-stair station entrance on the northwest corner of Yonge Street and Dundas Street West, within the Dundas Street West right-of-way, will be closed. This report also seeks authority for staff to enter into a new entrance connection agreement and related agreements required to facilitate this new TTC entrance to Dundas Station to be constructed within the private development located at 595 Bay Street. Recommendations It is recommended that the Board: 1. Approve in principle the proposed new entrance connection to Dundas Station within the development located at 595 Bay Street and the subsequent closure of the existing entrance located at the northwest corner of Yonge Street and Dundas Street West, as illustrated in Attachments 1a, 1b and 2; and 2. Authorize the execution of a new entrance connection agreement, and any other agreements arising as a result of the development, on terms and conditions satisfactory to TTC's General Counsel. Implementation Points In accordance with Corporate Policy 8.3.0 (Entrance Connections), any entrance connection or amendment to an existing entrance connection requires the prior approval of the Board. Entrance connection refers to a physical, weather-protected or fully- protected enclosed structure between a development and a transit station. -
Modify Toronto Rocket Trainsets to Accommodate
STAFF REPORT ACTION REQUIRED Procurement Authorization Amendment to Modify Toronto Rocket (TR) Trainsets to Accommodate One Person Train Operation Date: July 11, 2016 To: TTC Board From: Chief Executive Officer Summary The Toronto Transit Commission’s Five Year Corporate Plan includes the implementation of One Person Train Operation (OPTO) which will be implemented on all subway lines. The SRT Line 3 has operated under OPTO mode since opening in 1985. A change directive was authorized to Bombardier Transportation Canada Inc. (Bombardier) in the amount of $2,734,822.98 including taxes, for the engineering design of a prototype Train Door Monitoring (TDM) system and Correct Side Door Enable (CSDE) system on a Toronto Rocket (TR) train for a functional test. A contract amendment in the amount of $2,260,893.46 followed for the installation of the prototype TDM and CSDE systems on a TR train. On February 18, 2016, a test of the TDM and CSDE systems were successfully conducted at Bessarion Station on Line 4 using a 4-car TR trainset. Based on this successful demonstration, it is planned to modify six 4-car TR trainsets on Line 4 for OPTO implementation in 2016. This would be followed by implementation of 76 x 6- cars TR trainsets for OPTO implementation on Line 1. A contract amendment to Bombardier in the amount of $38,463,069.25 CDN, inclusive of all applicable taxes, is required for these modifications to the TR train fleet. Recommendations It is recommended that the Board authorize: 1. A contract amendment to Bombardier, in the amount of $38,463,069.25 CDN, inclusive of all applicable taxes, for the installation of the TDM and CSDE on the entire TR fleet of 82 trains to facilitate OPTO operation on Line 4 and Line 1. -

The shorter the headway, the more passengers carried per hour. Making Headway — Capital Investments to Keep Transit Moving January 2019 From the Chief Executive Officer In January 2018, the TTC published a new Corporate Plan that clearly laid out our priorities for the next five years. At the top of the list was transforming for financial sustainability. “Fiscal sustainability,” we said, “depends on our ability to fund what the TTC is being asked to deliver over the long term.” We committed to providing better budget information for improved long-term decision-making. Over the past 12 months, we have undertaken a massive, multi-department review of all of our assets. The result is this Capital Investment Plan. Toronto’s transit system is hailed as among the most multi- modal systems in the world, with seamless integration between buses, streetcars, Wheel-Trans and the subway. The TTC’s interdependent network of fleet, track, power, maintenance and other infrastructure moves more than half a billion people annually. Funding for critical maintenance and system improvements is necessary. Projects that have been approved are still awaiting funding. Line 2 Capacity Enhancement is unfunded. Buses past 2021 are unfunded. The expansion of Bloor-Yonge Station, which is needed to accommodate ridership growth even before planned transit expansion, is unfunded. The TTC Way, which was introduced in our Corporate Plan, establishes clear guidelines for how we at the TTC work with each other, with customers and with our partners, including our funding partners. -

Assessment of Provincial Proposals Line 2 East Extension
EX9.1 Attachment 5 – Assessment of Provincial Proposals Line 2 East Extension As directed by City Council in April 2019, City and TTC staff have assessed the Province’s proposed 3-stop Line 2 East Extension. The details of this assessment are provided in this attachment. 1. Project Summary 1.1 Project Description The Line 2 East Extension (L2EE), as proposed by the Province, is an approximately 8 kilometre underground extension of Line 2 Bloor-Danforth from Kennedy Station that will have three stations – at Lawrence and McCowan, Scarborough Centre and Sheppard and McCowan, as shown in Figure 1. The Province's plan for the L2EE is similar to what was being planned by the City and TTC prior to 2016. Figure 1 - Line 2 East Extension Reference Map Note: Map produced by City/TTC based on current understanding of project Attachment 5 – Assessment of Line 2 East Extension Page 1 of 9 As proposed, the extension will be fully integrated with the existing Line 2 and have through service at Kennedy Station. A turn-back may be included east of Kennedy Station to enable reduced service to Scarborough Centre, subject to demand and service standards. The extension will require approximately seven additional six-car, 138-metre-long trains to provide the service. The trains would be interoperable with the other trains on Line 2. With the station at Sheppard and McCowan supporting storage of up to six trains, there is sufficient storage and maintenance capacity existing at the TTC’s Line 2 storage and maintenance facilities to accommodate this increase in fleet size. -
Second Exit Program Automatic Entrance at Five Stations

MEETING DATE: May 28, 2009 SUBJECT: FIRE VENTILATION UPGRADE SECOND EXIT PROGRAM AUTOMATIC ENTRANCE AT FIVE STATIONS ACTION ITEM RECOMMENDATION It is recommended that the Commission authorize staff to convert the conceptual layouts of second exits from a daily exit configuration to an automatic entrance configuration at five stations: College, Museum, Dundas, Dundas West and Wellesley, as outlined in this report. FUNDING Funds for the Second Exit Program are included in Program 3.9 – Buildings and Structures – Fire Ventilation Upgrade Project, as set out in pages 781-792, State of Good Repair/Safety Category of the TTC’s 2009-2013 Capital Program, which was approved by City Council on December 10, 2008. Reconfiguration of the second exits to automatic entrances will require additional funds based on specific site conditions. The increase in cost will be reflected in the 2010-2014 Capital Program Budget. BACKGROUND A Fire and Life Safety Assessment Study completed in 2002 identified fourteen high priority stations requiring an alternate means of egress from the station platform. Subsequently, the Second Exit Program was incorporated into the Fire Ventilation Upgrade Project to provide a second means of egress from station platforms at the following fourteen high priority stations: Broadview; Castle Frank; Pape; Dufferin; College; Museum; Wellesley; Dundas; Dundas West; Woodbine; Chester; Donlands; Greenwood; and Summerhill.
