Tuesday August 4 2020 - Thursday August 6 2020 Multi-day Cycling: Rail trails around Peterborough. Peterborough The Peterborough area has some really great rides — plenty to fill a 3-day trip. The tentative itinerary: •Day 1.p.m. The Rotary Greenway Trail that would be a 35 km out and backPeterborough to Lakefield following the Otonobee and going through Trent University with a short side trip to the Lift Locks and the site of the newCanadian Canoe Museum (slated to open spring 2022). •Day 2.A 50 km plus (longer if you wish) out and back on the rail trail to Omemee and Lindsay— part of the Trans-Canada (or Great) Trail. Omemee makes a good turnaround point and has an excellent littlebakery/cafe and picnic ground beside the Pigeon River. A very pretty ride— the highlight is a 200 metre-long original trestle bridge (Doube’s Trestle Bridge) with grand views on both sides. •Day 3.The Victoria Rail Trail offers another 50 km out and back from Lindsay to , through lake country. This will be quite small group as it is the first time we have tried it. Accommodations at Trent University. Some non-riding activity options for evenings or a bad-weather day include: the Canadian Canoe Museum, still on Monaghan St – a real gem. And you might beinterested in taking in a show on one of the evenings at the 4th Line Theatre, an excellent outdoor theatre near Millbrook. https://www.4thlinetheatre.on.ca/ If you would like to join this one, let Neil Stuart know.
