The Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival is back for its 14th year offering 16 days of great walking across the East Midlands’ only Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Co-ordinated by Heritage Lincolnshire, in partnership with Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service, the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival remains one of the largest, and best-attended, events of its kind in the UK. This year we are delighted to be offering 104 walks; our varied programme offers something for all ages and abilities, providing a great way for everyone to experience a beautiful landscape, its culture and heritage, whilst enjoying some healthy exercise in good company. In addition to the key facts included in this brochure, full walk details and an interactive map can be found on our website www.woldswalkingfestival.co.uk. Please keep an eye on our Twitter (@LincsWoldsWalks) or Facebook page (@lincswoldswalkingfestival) for any updates or changes to the advertised programme. Remember, if you need to check out anything about your walk you can contact the walk leader directly (contact details are provided). Don’t forget to share your photos with us via Facebook or Twitter using #LWWF. Walking for everyone With walks ranging from 0.5 miles to 76 miles we hope that EVERYONE should be able to take part in the festival, whether you prefer a relaxed short stroll, discovering town- centre heritage, or a challenging stride across hills and vales. Many of our walks are suitable for wheelchair users and accessible with pushchairs (look out for the symbols on the walk listings). We also have lots of family friendly walks on offer featuring fun activities such as shelter building, bushcraft, treasure trails and bug hunts, so why not share your brochure with family and friends, and get everyone involved! Turn to page 4 for family event listings. Our aim to get more people walking is supported by Lincolnshire County Council’s three-year Access Lincoln project, funded by the Department of Transport. Look out for the easy symbol which indicates the walk is suitable for most levels of fitness. 2 Walk bookings and charges Booking is not required unless stated in the walk listing. Walks either have a small cost attached to them or they invite voluntary donations towards the Walking Festival and other local good causes. If a walk carries a charge it is clearly marked . The following apply to all charged walks: £2 for 0 – 3 miles and £3.50 for over 3 miles. Under 18’s go free. Charges may vary for special events, please see individual walk listings for details. Payment should be made in cash on the day – please help our walk leaders by bringing the correct change! Walks which invite donations are clearly marked . Donations are greatly appreciated; 100% of the money raised goes to the Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival (LWWF), or where stated, donations are split 50/50 between the festival and the walk leader’s affiliated charity. Lincolnshire Wolds Walking Festival is co-ordinated by Heritage Lincolnshire, a local charity, and the Lincolnshire Wolds Countryside Service, with support from Lincolnshire County Council and East and West Lindsey District Councils. Although the festival is heavily reliant on volunteers, it costs in excess of £20,000 to deliver the festival each year. We rely on the income from walks charges and donations in order to cover the costs of running the festival and ensure we can keep it going for the future. If you would like to make a donation to the festival online, please click on the donate button on our homepage: www.woldswalkingfestival.co.uk Feedback Walker feedback is vital in letting us, and our funders, know more about who takes part in the festival and what you think about it. Please do complete our online questionnaire by visiting: www.woldswalkingfestival.co.uk/feedback All completed questionnaires received by 30th June 2018 will be entered into a prize draw to win a fantastic voucher for £50 to spend at Webtogs’ online store. 3 A family-friendly festival We are keen to inspire young people to take part in the festival and we have lots of fun events and activities designed for toddlers right through to teenagers.
