Consequently, it has been mined in excess to that is available that has resulted in lowering of groundwater table. India being the world’s largest consumer of groundwater is affected badly by this problem, especially the parts of Indo-Gangetic plain like Haryana, Punjab, Rajasthan and Western part of Uttar Pradesh. Haryana being an agrarian state is in a critical position with respect to groundwater with 56cm per year depletion rate. Present research will focus on analyzing the trends of groundwater level of one of the Department of Geography, CRS University, Jind, Haryana Department of Grography, Govt. LOKAYUKTA HARYANA ANNUAL REPORT FOR THE YEAR 2018-2019 (01.04.2018 TO 31.03.2019) After I had taken oath as Lokayukta of Haryana on 19th July, 2016, this is my 3rd Annual Report on the functioning of Lokayukta Institution for the aforesaid period under report being submitted to the Hon’ble Governor of Haryana as required under Section 17 (3) of the Haryana Lokayukta Act, 2002. Lokayuktas have been unearthing corruption cases, recommending measures to redress grievances of the people and above all, acting as a much needed safety valve to release the bottled up pressure of aggrieved citizens, which, if allowed to accumulate, would put a question mark on the credibility of our administrative apparatus. The very existence of a Lokayukta helps to generate a feeling of assurance among the public at large, that they have a mechanism to fall back upon when faced with corrupt public servants. Lokayukta investigates cases of corruption, where substantiated, recommend action. It is a great check on corruption, brings about transparency in the system, and makes administrative machinery citizen friendly. His functions largely depend upon jurisdiction vested in him and facilities provided 2 for taking cognizance of citizens’ grievances promptly, deftly and expeditiously through simple, informal mechanism devoid of technicalities. Corruption is internationally recognized a major problem, capable of endangering stability and security of society, threatening social, economic and political development and undermining the values of democracy and morality. It has assumed alarming proportions resultantly public funds going into private hands leading to enrichment of bribe givers and bribe takers. Corruption, inefficiency, delays and insensitivity to people’s grievances can be identified key problems besetting the nation. -

Flood loss prevention and mitigation includes structural flood control measures such as constitution of dams or river dikes and Non-structural measure includes flood forecasting and Dr. Aditya Dahiya, I.A.S, Deputy Commissioner, warning, flood hazard and risk management. Jind. These papers describe concepts taken by District administration policy, plan and operation on integrated flood disaster. District administration is well prepared to tackle any eventuality due to flood or heavy down pour. Keeping in view a thorough inspection of drains, canals and pump houses was done. Drain and canals are being cleared to contain and carry more water during the rainy season; Pump Houses are made fully operative to drain out excess water in the time of need. All front line departments have already established their flood control room along with smooth working condition of all resources inventory of their own. -

International Journal of Advanced Research in Management and Social Sciences ISSN: 2278-6236 PERFORMANCE OF INDIAN NATIONAL CONGRESSIN HARYANA ASSEMBLY ELECTION 2009 Suman* Neeraj** INTRODUCTION In most of the modern states with large areas and population, the government is run by the representatives, who are elected by the people. For electing the representatives, elections are necessary. Elections are fought generally on party basis, though some candidates fight elections as independent candidates. The party, which gets a majority, forms the government. If the representatives, during their tenure, do not work for the welfare of the people, they can be replaced at the time of next elections. In this way, people maintain their control over the government because their representatives know that they can be voted out of power in the next elections if they do not satisfy the people and work for their welfare. Free and fair elections are the basic characteristics of a democracy by which representative are elected. India is one of the largest democracies of the world where the Member of Parliament (MPs) and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLAs) and administrator at local level are elected directly by the people.For electing the representatives, elections are necessary. MPs and MLAs elections are fought generally on party basis, though some candidates fight elections as independent candidates.In the post-independence period only ‘Indian National Congress’ was the strongest political party. But in present time the regional parties are becoming powerful. The electoral contest between national parties and regional parties has drawn attention of the political geographers and elections are considered essential for the development of the country. -
