Cities located along coastlines have to adapt to these circumstances that otherwise will increase the magnitude and frequency of coastal flooding. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the current and future risk of coastal flooding in central Stockholm in relation to global sea level rise. The overall coastal flood risk of central Stockholm is assessed using the current sea level as well as with possible future sea level rise. Wave modelling is carried out in Saltsjön to estimate the possible addition to extreme sea levels from wave action. The wave characteristics is determined according to the physical properties of inner Saltsjön and local meteorological conditions. In-depth case studies regarding flood risk and flood prevention measures are carried out on Stadsholmen and Hammarby Sjöstad, two areas with very different physical characteristics.

  • Restaurants Closing During the Summer Months (2016)
JUNE 22, 2016 Restaurants Closing During the Summer Months (2016) This post may come as bad news, at least for "foodies" visiting Stockholm in July and early August. Many top tier restaurants (Michelin star, gourmet) close for a few weeks during the summer. This is mainly due to the generous Swedish vacation rules leading many top restaurants to feel that they can't offer excellent food & service with summer replacement staff. Another reason, perhaps, is that many Stockholmers leave the city during this period and there aren't enough visiting "foodies" to fill these types of restaurants to make it profitable. No businessmen in town either... wining & dining clients. At any rate, the good news is that there are a few which will be open all summer and several other top restaurants have some other options during these weeks... and you always have a plethora of other great restaurants in the city to choose from! Most of these restaurants are also closed during the big Midsummer holiday weekend (June 24th-26th). Michelin star and Bib Gourmand restaurants: • Mathias Dahlgren- closed between July 15th and August 9th (both the Dining Room and the Food Bar). • Frantzén- closes on July 9th. Reopening at a new & better location in 2017! • Oaxen Krog- open all summer as normal. • Oaxen Slip- open all summer... every day for lunch & dinner. • Gastrologik- open all summer, though their more casual Speceriet will be closed until the beginning of August for renovations. • Ekstedt- closed between July 17th and August 5th. • Esperanto- the dining room is closed between June 24th and August 5th.

  • The Cambridge Companion to August Strindberg Edited by Michael Robinson Frontmatter More Information
Cambridge University Press 978-0-521-60852-7 - The Cambridge Companion to August Strindberg Edited by Michael Robinson Frontmatter More information the cambridge companion to august strindberg August Strindberg is one of the most enduring of nineteenth-century dramatists, and is also an internationally recognized novelist, autobiographer and painter. This Companion presents contributions by leading international scholars on different aspects of Strindberg’s highly colourful life and work. The essays focus primarily on his most celebrated plays; these include the naturalist dramas, The Father and Miss Julie; the experimental dramas with which he created a true modernist theatre – To Damascus and A Dream Play; and the Chamber Plays of 1908 which, like so much of his work, exerted a powerful influence on later twentieth-century drama. His plays are contextualized for what they contribute both to the history of drama and developments in theatre practice, and other essays clarify the enormous importance to these dramas of his other work, most notably the autobiographical novel Inferno, and his lifelong interest in science, the occult, sexual politics and the visual arts. michael robinson is Professor Emeritus of Drama and Scandinavian Studies at the University of East Anglia, Norwich. He is the author of Strindberg and Autobiography (1986) and Studies in Strindberg (1998), and has translated a two-volume selection of Strindberg’s letters (1992), a collection of his essays (1996) and five of the plays (1998). He has edited five volumes of essays on Strindberg and Ibsen, and is also the General Editor of the Cambridge Plays in Production series. His three-volume International Annotated Bibliography of Strindberg Studies was published by the MHRA in 2008.
