NAME: SCHOOL: Welcome to Northwestern Women’s Basketball!

Thank you for making the trip to Evanston today. Our Northwestern Women’s Basketball family would like to welcome you to Field Trip Day! My name is Joe McKeown, and I’m the Head Women’s Basketball Coach at Northwestern University. This is my 11th season as the head coach of the Wildcats. The building you are in is Welsh-Ryan Arena and the capacity is just over 7,000. This building opened to the public on November 2nd, 2018. We are so happy to have you in our newly-renovated arena. Throughout the last two seasons during construction, our Wildcats have been playing at Evanston Township High School and are thrilled to be home in the new Welsh-Ryan Arena. We hope that you can cheer loudly today for Northwestern!

I’d like to share a few facts about Northwestern. Our school colors are purple and white and we have two campuses in the United States (one in Evanston and one in Chicago) and one international campus in Qatar. We cheer on our 19 athletic teams with the phrase “Go ‘Cats!” In addition to athletics, Northwestern University houses over 500 student organizations and clubs. Use this book to learn more about Northwestern University, our women’s basketball team as well as to showcase your English, math, and geography skills!

We hope you enjoy the game today. Thank you again for coming to visit us and we hope you will be back again soon.
