• You can now distribute dictations by e-mail. Using the File > Send menu option, you can send several files to several different recipients at once. The e-mail capability interacts with MAPI- standard compatible e-mail client and mail server software such as Microsoft® Outlook, Microsoft Outlook Express, Lotus Notes, and so on.

•A Time and Date Stamp feature has been added so that each dictation is identified based on the time and date the recording was started. This information is displayed with the other information about the dictation in the list of dictations in Walkabout Transfer and Walkabout Write.

• When you stop a dictation during playback in Walkabout Transfer or Walkabout Write, the application automatically marks the spot where you stopped listening. When you close the dictation and reopen it later, playback begins where you left off. • Automatic deletion of your “Sent” and “Finished” files is now available based on the criteria you specify in the Automatic deletion section of the General Settings dialog box.

Walkabout 5215 Digital Recorder

New Features • The Walkabout 5215 recorder now has an Indexing feature available so you can make verbal comments within your recordings. Such comments are identified as Info in the recordings so the transcriptionist knows they are not part of your dictation. • Three folders - A, B, and C, - are now available for you to store your dictations. When starting a new dictation, all three folders are checked for existing dictation file before a new file number is assigned. This eliminates duplicate dictation numbers. • Two priorities are now available to be assigned to your recordings. With the Priority function set to ON, you can identify each dictation as having High Priority or No Priority. The Priority level is displayed with the other information about the dictation in Walkabout Write so your transcriptionist can work on the high priority dictations first. • If a dictation is abruptly interrupted (for example, by a power breakdown or memory card ejection), the last few seconds of the dictation are stored on your Walkabout 5215 recorder in a file called TEMPFILE.TMP, which must not be deleted. When the recorder is switched on again, the contents of the TEMPFILE.TMP is transferred to the correct dictation and the temporary file is deleted automatically. • When your Walkabout 5215 recorder is connected to your PC with the USB cable, all completed dictations in all folders are automatically detected and are automatically uploaded to the appropriate folder on your PC. • Dictations that are incomplete are not uploaded to the PC until they have been completed. Incomplete dictations continue to be stored on the recorder until they are complete, at which time they are made available for uploading. • When rewinding a dictation recorded in Append mode, you can use function key to jump directly to the end of a dictation. This is not available if your dictation is recorded in Insert mode. • The LCD screen on your Walkabout 5215 recorder now contains a blue backlight display that helps to improve the usability and visibility of the information on the screen. The data that is shown continues to include the amount of free memory, dictation name, current position, length of dictation, total elapsed time, and battery level.

• New error messages have been implemented to warn you that your dictation might be if you connect your recorder to your PC while you are dictating.

• Memory cards are recognized as soon as they are put in to or removed from the Walkabout 5215 recorder when it is in PC mode with the USB cable connected to your computer. • The Walkabout 5215 recorder includes 32 MB of built in flash memory that holds five hours of dictation. The recorder also utilizes standard MMC (MultiMediaCard) and SD (Secure Digital) expandable memory cards of 16 MB for 2.5 hours of dictation, 32 MB for 5 hours of dictation, and 64 MB for 10 hours of dictation. • Battery recharging has been improved. Batteries are recharged whenever the recorder is switched off and connected to the AC adapter/charger. The rechargeable batteries have a life expectancy of approximately 400 charge/discharge cycles.

Changes • The main menu is now displayed when you switch from charging mode to dictation mode. • The short, audible sound that was heard when you started to rewind a dictation while in playback mode has been eliminated. • If you press the ON/OFF key several times while turning off the recorder, the recorder is turned off properly and no longer generates error messages.
