PPROJECT SSUMMARY NELLORE District is situated in the South Eastern portion of the Andhra Pradesh state with a costal length of 163 km bounded by Bay of Bengal on the East. It lies between 13-30’ and 15-6’ of the Northern Latitude and 70-5’ and 80-15’ of the Eastern Longitude and extending over an area of 3076 Sq. Kms, accounting for 4.75% of the total area of the state. It is bounded on the north by Prakasam District on the East by Bay of Bengal on the South by Chittoor District and Chengalpattu District of Tamil Nadu and on the West by Veligonda Hills which separate it from Kadapa District. Administratively the District is divided into 46 Mandals, covering three Revenue Divisions i.e. Nellore, Gudur and Kavali. There are three Municipalities namely Nellore, Gudur and Kavali and in addition there are two Census Towns i.e. Kovurpalli, Venkatagiri. Nellore is strategically situated between Vijayawada and Chennai and just 26 kilometers away from the Krishnapatnam port. Simhadri has one of India's largest thermal power plants run by NTPC. Kurnool has Asia's largest paper mill machinery, which produces 300 tons of paper a day. Ongole is one of the major centers for tobacco for tobacco trading in Andhra Pradesh. Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh appointed RITES LTD (A Government of India enterprise) to prepare a Techno-economic feasibility study for Development of a Greenfield airport at Dagadarthi vide LOI No- INCAP(AP)/Dev. of Airports/Consultancy services/M/s RITES/130/2015, dated07-05-2015. The Proposed Airport site (identified by district administration is) is located about 30 Kms North of Nellore. It is situated on west side of Guntur-Chennai Highway (NH-5). Dagadarthi, the proposed site is 32 Kms from Kavali, 52 Kms from Gudur and 65 Kms from Kandukur. It is 396 Kms from state capital Hyderabad. The proposed site at Dagadarthi is well connected to other parts of state by well-developed network of National and state Highways. The site is connected by railway Network. The airport in Nellore district will be developed into a full-fledged airport for operation of ATR-72. All the facilities for safe operation of the aircraft like construction of new runway, terminal building, apron, air traffic controller, runway end safety area (RESA), apron, link taxi track shoulders, isolation bay shoulders, fully equipped firefighting equipments etc. are the part of the project. Other miscellaneous facilities will include DVOR building, CCR room, Security watch tower new substation, AC plant room, provision of hooter system at access points and provision of explosive detection system. BIACL (Bhogapuram International Airport Corporation Ltd) has been decided to develop an airport at Dagadarthi, Nellore, Andhra Pradesh. BIACL has been RITES LTD (A Government of India enterprise) to prepare a Techno- economic feasibility study for Development of a Greenfield airport at Dagadarthi vide LOI No-INCAP (AP)/Dev. of Airports/Consultancy services/M/s RITES/130/2015, dated 07-05-2015.The proposed airport is being planned for operation of ATR-72 type of aircraft in phase. The total project cost is assumed as Rs. 293.11 crores. In Phase I a total of Rs. 176.48 crores will be spent. The power requirement will be 1028.5 KW for the phase I & 3575.55 KW for the phase II. The bulk power supply of 1250 KVA shall be drawn from the grid of state electric board. The daily consumption of water during operation phase will be about 96.2 KLD of which 59.7 KLD will be fresh water and 36.5 KLD will be recycled water. The total wastewater generation in operation phase will be 82.3 KLD and that during construction phase is 9 KLD. .
