It certainly has been a time of discovery and it has been a time of trial and change. Each of the Benefices in the deanery and consequently each parish have experienced some sort of change and loss. Our own Benefice of North Kernow will be split as of Easter Day, the 21st April. Let us remember that, as Jesus had explicit trust in his Father as he made that Journey to Jerusalem and his death on a cross and his ultimate resurrection, we too might see God in this process and also witness the resurrection of our churches in this deanery.

My prayers and best wishes go to you all as we begin this new chapter in the life of Stratton Deanery.

Tails from Stratton Tower

Hi there!

What a spring we have had so far; nice warm sunshine, snow, sun again and now wind and rain. I am sure I saw some of the flowers creeping back underground again. One morning I almost drowned. I ran out of the big door, ducked under the metal at St Michaels, Bude gate and just stopped in time. The water was nearly up to my paws on 10.30 am - 12.30 pm the step so I went back in quick. There was no need to worry as of Wednesday 10th April 2019 course one of the folk noticed the flood and kindly stood out in the pouring rain to unblock the little drain in the path. Theme: ‘Easter, Palm Sunday’

There was an unusual meeting here one day. The folk came to say Come along and enjoy a fun session of hospitality, crafts, prayers for some other folk who live in a different part of the world celebration and lunch for parents, grandparents and children of all ages to enjoy together they call Slovenia. One by one several of the ladies described what life was like there. Squeak said afterwards how glad he was to be a Donations are welcome but not compulsory mouse here and not there. He did not think that they would have many crumbs to spare but he liked their music and he thought that it was kind of our ladies to remember and pray for them in this way. He heard someone say that churches were praying all round the world and he wondered if his old home in York were joining in. At the end two of the ladies gave a red carnation to everyone present as a thank you for coming and lots of them stayed for nibbles after – they had special biscuits and cakes and the crumbs were delicious.

I told you back along that I saw one of the ladies planting something into the ground and I would tell you what came up. Well, they were crocus – a lovely deep purple - and, do you know, they have the sweet- est yellow stamens … I think they are something to do with a charity as they are to remind folk about an illness called Polio. It causes nasty things to happen to the folk who catch it.

We had a pretty wedding one week. For flowers they had lots of that tiny white plant that looks like clouds and with it a plant that smells nice called lavender but it wasn’t in long enough to nibble. They did leave us a nice biscuit and some bits of crisps.
