Newton Greetings in the Lord! As we prepare to celebrate our Centennial next week, it is an honor and a privilege to be named your new Pastor. Ever since my first assignment at Saint Luke’s in 2008, the parish of Saint Joan of Arc has always had special meaning to me. As the mother Church of the North Deanery, and the daughter Church of the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul, as well as being the most beautiful Church in the city, Saint Joan of Arc and the history of the Archdiocese are entwined. You may be wondering a little bit about me. I have been, and continue to be, the Vicar Judicial of the Archdiocese (which means I administer the Metropolitan Tribunal and advise the Archbishop on the application of canon law regarding the governance of the Archdiocese). Because of Mass Intentions the priest shortage, we no longer have full time priests on the Chancery July 12-18 staff so I will be both Pastor of Saint Joan of Arc while continuing as Vicar Judicial (Msgr. Stumpf, our Vicar General, will be doing the same Monday, July 12 as Pastor of Saint Matthew). Nancy Tiplick I grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio, and moved to Indianapolis with my family Tuesday, July 13 when I was 16. I am a son of Our Lady of the Greenwood parish on the Agnes Brake Southside, and a graduate of Roncalli High School. I was ordained in 2008 and was associate pastor until 2011. At which time, Archbishop Wednesday, July 14 Daniel (of happy memory) asked me to study canon law at the Catholic Intention of Monica Foye University of America, where I earned a Licentiate in Canon Law (JCL) in 2013. Since then, I have worked full time in the Tribunal and assisted as Thursday, July 15 Administrator and/or Sacramental Assistant in over two dozen parishes. Agnes Brake My last assignment was at Holy Rosary Parish downtown. I currently reside at the Cathedral but will be moving my residence to Friday, July 16 Saint Joan or Arc by the first of the new year. And like all priests, we all have hobbies (which keep us sane!) You’ll find my main hobby is old Joan Catherine Bunte cars and 1980’s BMX bikes. I have a 32 Ford 5w coupe which is pretty much done (they’re never really done), and a 40 Ford convertible Saturday, July 17 project. JoAnn Blackwell I am very much looking forward to meeting you all and if you have any Sunday, July 18 questions or comments, feel free to email me at [email protected] The Parish of St. Joan of Arc Also, should you have an emergency and need the Sacrament of William Wakeland Anointing of the Sick, please call me anytime (literally day, night, or Gretchen Coogan even 3:00 am) and I will anoint you. The emergency line number is (317) 592-4004. Finally, I would be remiss if I did not extend my gratitude to Fr. Guy 2 | St. Joan of Arc Church | 2 Introduction from Fr. Newton Roberts for his service, leadership, and many kindnesses to me in our transition. As Fr. Roberts begins his new ministry at Saint Barnabas, he leaves a legacy that is profound and lasting. In closing, as we prepare to celebrate and remember the 100 years of the faith and fidelity of our predecessors, we also look forward to our own pilgrim path to heaven. May God continue to Bless to the work of our hands, I am, Sincerely Yours in Christ, Fr. Joseph Newton Holy Virgin of Guadalupe, Queen of the Angels and Mother of the Americas.
