Österreich, Austria; download unter www.zobodat.at Acta ZooBot Austria 155, 2018, 251–256 Snapshot of the terrestrial true bug fauna of the Pocem floodplains (Insecta: Hemiptera: Heteroptera) Wolfgang Rabitsch 61 terrestrial true bug (Heteroptera) species are reported from a short field trip in April 2017 along the river Vjosa in the Pocem floodplains, Albania. Five species are reported for the first time for Albania, indicating insufficient baseline information on the distribution of true bugs in the region. Future sampling designs should consider the interstitial habitats, river gravel and sand banks, and adjacent dry grassland areas. Certain difficulties aside, true bugs are a significant group of insect species with de- scriptive and indicative value. Keywords: Albania, floodplain, Heteroptera, new records, riparian, river. Introduction True bugs (Insecta: Hemiptera: Heteroptera) are well-known descriptors and indicators of terrestrial and aquatic habitats and their ecological quality (Duelli & Obrist 1998, Achtziger et al. 2007, Rabitsch 2008, Skern et al. 2010). Due to their diversity of feeding habits, life-histories, biology, and preferred habitats, true bugs are a meaningful addition to any Environmental Impact Assessment (e.g.

U.S. Department of Agriculture, Technical Bulletin No. 1616, 100 pp. Six Eurasian species of Carduus thistles (Compositae: Cynareael are troublesome weeds in North America. They are attacked by about 340 species of phytophagous insects, including 71 that are oligophagous on Cynareae. Of these Eurasian insects, 39 were ex tensively tested for host specificity, and 5 of them were sufficiently damf..ghg and stenophagous to warrant their release as biological control agents in North America. They include four beetles: Altica carduorum Guerin-Meneville, repeatedly released but not estab lished; Ceutorhynchus litura (F.), established in Canada and Montana on Cirsium arvense (L.) Scop.; Rhinocyllus conicus (Froelich), widely established in the United States and Canada and beginning to reduce Carduus nutans L. populations; Trichosirocalus horridus ~Panzer), established on Carduus nutans in Virginia; and the fly Urophora stylata (F.), established on Cirsium in Canada.

Let R be a commutative ring with identity and K be a non-trivial ideal of R. The graph-based on an ideal K, denoted by (R), is the undirected graph whose vertices are non-trivial ideals of R and two of its vertices are adjacent if and only if IJ⊂K. Halyomorpha halys has not established itself in Australia, but it has been intercepted several times at the border, therefore future incursions and establishment are likely. There are few control options for this species and biological control may be a useful management method in Australia. This study summarizes the literature on natural enemies of H. halys in its native and invaded ranges and prioritizes potential biological control agents that could be suitable for use in Australia. The results show two egg parasitoid species as the Citation: Caron, V.; Yonow, T.; Paull, best candidates: Trissolcus japonicus (Ashmead) and Trissolcus mitsukurii (Ashmead) (Hymenoptera: C.; Talamas, E.J.; Avila, G.A.; Hoelmer, Scelionidae).

E-mail: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] Abstract Carpocoris mediterraneus Tamanini, 1958, synonymized with Carpocoris fuscispinus (Boheman, 1851) by Ribes et al. (2007), is restored to the species level. The shape of the pronotum is a good diagnostic character to distinguish the two species. The existence of two valid species is supported by geographical distribution patterns in Western Europe: Medi- terranean-Atlantic for C. mediterraneus, and Continental for C. fuscispinus. In France and Spain, in some areas, the two species are found in sympatry (sometimes even on the same plant). Morphological observations are confirmed at the mo- lecular level by sequencing of the mitochondrial Cytochrome c oxidase I standard barcode fragment. Indeed, inter-specific divergence largely exceeded intra-specific divergence and our phylogenetic reconstructions reveal that Carpocoris medi- terraneus and Carpocoris fuscispinus form two reciprocally monophyletic genetic lineages. A morphological identifica- tion key is proposed for all the European species of the genus Carpocoris, to facilitate identification.
