Halyomorpha halys has not established itself in Australia, but it has been intercepted several times at the border, therefore future incursions and establishment are likely. There are few control options for this species and biological control may be a useful management method in Australia. This study summarizes the literature on natural enemies of H. halys in its native and invaded ranges and prioritizes potential biological control agents that could be suitable for use in Australia. Scutellum dépourvu d’une dépression aussi marquée, ou avec seulement quelques traces superficielles planes. Angles latéraux du pronotum arrondis ou pointus. E-mail: [email protected]; [email protected]; [email protected] Abstract Carpocoris mediterraneus Tamanini, 1958, synonymized with Carpocoris fuscispinus (Boheman, 1851) by Ribes et al. (2007), is restored to the species level. The shape of the pronotum is a good diagnostic character to distinguish the two species. The existence of two valid species is supported by geographical distribution patterns in Western Europe: Medi- terranean-Atlantic for C. mediterraneus, and Continental for C. fuscispinus. In France and Spain, in some areas, the two species are found in sympatry (sometimes even on the same plant). Morphological observations are confirmed at the mo- lecular level by sequencing of the mitochondrial Cytochrome c oxidase I standard barcode fragment. Indeed, inter-specific divergence largely exceeded intra-specific divergence and our phylogenetic reconstructions reveal that Carpocoris medi- terraneus and Carpocoris fuscispinus form two reciprocally monophyletic genetic lineages. A morphological identifica- tion key is proposed for all the European species of the genus Carpocoris, to facilitate identification. -

SAMIN, M. SHOJAI, S. ASGARI, H. GHAHARI & E. KOCAK Abstract: Sunn pest, Eurygaster integriceps PUTON (Heteroptera: Scutelleridae) is the main pest in wheat fields of Iran. The list of Scelionidae (Hymenoptera) and Tachinidae (Diptera) as the parasitoids of sunn pest are summarized in this paper. Totally 19 scelionid and 7 tachinid species are listed as the parasitoids of sunn pest in Iran. Key words: Eurygaster integriceps, Scutelleridae, Parasitoid, Scelionidae, Tachinidae, Iran. Introduction The areas cultivated with wheat and barley in Iran are 6.5 million ha and 2.5 million ha, respectively. Production for irrigated wheat is around 2,900 kg per hectare, while rain- fed wheat production averages 800 kg per hectare. Irrigated and rain-fed barley yield approximately the same as irrigated and rain-fed wheat. The major hemipteran pests are Eurygaster integriceps PUTON, Aelia furcula FIEBER and Dolycoris penicillatus HORVATH. At present, E. integriceps, the most destructive species is found wherever wheat is grown. The main infestation areas are in the provinces of Tehran, Markazi, Isfahan, Fars, Chaharmahal & Bakhtiari, Kordestan, Lorestan, Zanjan, Ilam and Khora- san. Sunn pest is absent from narrow strips along the Oman Sea, the Arabian Gulf and the Caspian Sea. E. integriceps currently infests about 1 million ha of wheat and barley. The average yield losses are estimated at 20 to 30 percent if the insects are not control- led. -

Product. & Dev., 14(3): 747- 758 (2009) SURVEY OF SOME HETEROPTEROUS INSECTS IN LIBYA Moftah Soleman El-Meghrabi Zoology Department, Faculty of Science, Garyounis University, Benghazi, Libya ABSTRACT From 2001 to 07, research was carried out to investigate the composition of the Heteroptera fauna in Libya. Many types of soil were involved, viz., semi desert, desert and agricultural land, on various grown crops were grown. It appeared that Heteroptera fauna were 91 species, classified into 18 families of them 40 species are recorded in Libya for the first time. As these species have a wide ecological range they are capable to adapting themselves quite well to the changing environmental factors which results from the various cultivation methods. Conclusively, it appeared that Heteroptera fauna were 91 species, classified into 18 families from them 40 species are recorded in Libya for the first time. INTRODUCTION The Heteroptera of Libya have been very poorly studied and are known only from a few faunal lists; the first list was published by Zavattari (1934). Damiano (1961) listed 7 species of Heteroptera and out of these only 5 species were found in Libya. Later, Linnavuori (1965) made a contribution to the hemipterous fauna of Libya. From time to time, a few species were described by various authors among whom, Hessein (1978) who collected four species from Tripoli. The order Heteroptera is a very important one in regard to man’s welfare. Among its members are many of our serious pests such as the stink bug, squash bug, chinch bug. -

It is based on investigations I have been carrying out together with my wife Sakineh Linnavuori in the province and adjacent areas since 1994. The Gilan province (Fig. 1) (36°36′-38°27′ N, 48°30′-50°30′ E, total area 14,709 km2) is located on the southern coast of the Caspian Sea and surrounded by Ardabil, Zanjan, Ghaz- vin, Tehran, Mazandaran, and Golestan provinces. The Gilan province consists of coastal and central plains (-25 m a.s.l. at Astara up to about 1,000 m a.s.l.), which are bordered by the Talesh, Masuleh and Poshtehkuh mountain ranges in the west and the Elburz Mts. -

New Records of Terrestrial Bugs from the Maltese Islands with an Updated List of Maltese Heteroptera (Insecta: Hemiptera)

Thirty-four species of Heteroptera were found from the Maltese islands during a sampling period of a week in April of 2009. Of these, seven represent new records for this territory and include the seed bugs Artheneis foveolata, Emblethis duplicatus, Engistus boops boops and Oxycarenus hyalinipennis and the plant bugs Megalodactylus macularubra, Mimocoris sp. and Phytocoris sp. The integration of the records from the last Catalogue of Maltese Heteroptera, the Catalogue of the Heteroptera of the Palaeartic Region and the present data raised the heteroptera known from the Maltese islands to 223 species accommodated in 161 genera and 26 families. INTRODUCTION Probably the earliest mention of Maltese Heteroptera was due to DALLAS (1852), who recorded four species from Malta, as clearly indicated in Schembri’s catalogue of Maltese Heteroptera (1993) which includes most citations relevant to Maltese Heteroptera. The number of Heteroptera species for Malta increased slowly, and more than a hundred years later, TAMANINI (1966) recorded 67 species belonging to 16 families. DE LUCCA (1969) added some further species and RIEGER (1986) provided information on 35 additional new records for Malta. SCHEMBRI (1993) also described the major Maltese habitat types and provided additional new records, listing a total of 209 taxa (refer to discussion) accommodated in 23 families. -
