The School of Visual Arts provides a space for students to converge and unleash their innovative and creative energies. At the undergraduate level SVA offers Bachelor of Fine Arts, Associate and studio certificates in Painting, Sculpture, Jewellery, Printmaking, Ceramics, Visual Communication including Illustration and Animation, Textiles and Fibre Arts, and most recently, Photography. SVA also offers a Post Graduate Degree in Art Education in collaboration with Ohio State University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Art Therapy. Students develop a sense of adventure for exploring new materials, techniques and ideas. This Foundation year challenges previous assumptions about art and design as well as develops an awareness of the immense range of art-making possibilities. In the Foundation Year, students are given the opportunity to express ideas personally and collectively through projects and it is the year to become aware of ones personal commitment to Art and Design. Students doing the Foundation Studies must complete: 12 credits in 2D/3D 6 credits in Drawing 4 credits in Art History 8 credits in General Studies 12 credits in Electives must be taken over four years. MINOR PROGRAMMES A minor requires a minimum of 20 credits. Students must maintain a G.P.A. of at least 2.00 in the minor. 15 Credits of studio in minor and a maximum of 9 credits may be used to meet the requirements for both the Minor and Major.
