I've rarely seen candidates speak within their allotted time but that's what happened. Thanks to Nickie Diersen and her time keeper, Linda Schlinger, we stayed on target and even had time left over to briefly hear from the extra dozen or so candidates who attended. We will be hosting another Candidates' Forum in May so we can listen to more candidates who were unable to attend this first forum. What an exciting election year with so many good Republicans running! April is a busy month. Nevada Federation of Republican Women (NvFRW) is holding our Spring Board Meeting April 11 at South Point Casino. Your SHRW membership gives you three memberships for the price of one. You now belong to NvFRW and National Federation of Republican Women (NFRW). It's not too late to sign up for this meeting. The engaging Dr. Timothy Daughtry will be the guest speaker and his specialty is how to talk to Democrats. We all need to be more effective as we reach across to Democrats, Independents and undecided voters. There are many who are disillusioned and looking for an alternative. The GOP should become that alternative. The 2014 Nevada Republican Convention will be held in Las Vegas April 12th and 13th. April 12th is also the date for the CCRP's Lincoln Day Dinner held at the Venetian. I wasn't kidding when I said April was busy! Our first Caring for America event this year is a Bar-B-Q for St. Jude's Ranch at 100 St. Jude's Street in Boulder City. Andria Coleman is looking for volunteers and donations to make this event a success. She and Diane Fell have begun recruiting candidates to participate in this worthwhile event. If you are unfamiliar with St. Jude's Ranch it is quite impressive. St. Jude’s Ranch for Children rescues abused, abandoned and neglected children of all races and faiths from the vicious cycle of child abuse. St. Jude’s Ranch Crossings is a supportive housing program for homeless 1 8 to 25 years old in the city of Las Vegas. This is a wonderful way to kick off our 2014 "Caring for America" projects. "Hold the date" - July 12, 2014 for the RWSN PAC 2nd Annual Gala. You'll be hearing more from me about this fun and worthwhile function. It is through the PAC that SHRW can legally donate to our candidates. Last year we raised over $48,000. This year should be even better. Note that date on your calendar now! God grants Liberty only to those who love it, and are always ready to guard and defend it. ~ Daniel Webster Clark County Republican Party Update by Dave McKeon, Chairman The Clark County Republican Party is working diligently on numerous projects as we march toward victory on Tuesday, November 4, 2014. One of the projects we are most excited about is our campaign to send letters and make phone calls to newly registered republicans to get them involved in our local party activities. We have begun sending letters to one of the four categories of registered voters that we have identified as follows: 1-Newly Registered Republicans 2-Voters that have left political parties to join the Republican Party 3-Independents, Non-Partisan 4-Republicans that have left the party The CCRP goal is to invite these folks to join the county party. Once we have welcomed them into our family, we plan to introduce them to all the clubs that are part of the county's Stakeholders program. The Stakeholders program is designed to promote political awareness, community participation and grow the membership of the clubs that support the work of the county party. For more information, contact the CCRP Executive Director, Mr. Eric Roberts at 702-258-9184. The NvFRW is having their Spring Board of Directors meeting on April 11th at South Point Hotel. This is a great opportunity to meet members from other clubs all over the state and learn more about the federation. Each time you attend these relationships become more valuable as we get to know each other better. Northern Nevada's needs differ from Southern Nevada's and it is only through communication with one another that we better understand the entire state of Nevada. It's time all Republicans work together and this is the perfect opportunity to forge ahead. If you have never joined Regents I encourage you to do so this year. Regents is the fundraising arm and has been the education arm of the Nevada Federation. By becoming a part of this organization we can better support our Republican candidates and help foster your Republicans. LPNevada endorsed Candidates in non‐partisan races and graded Candidates in partisan races for the 2014 General Elections. Most organizations do not get one‐on‐one interaction with the candidates; we felt this is important. Endorsements and Grading Non‐Partisan candidates received either a positive (thumbs up) or negative (thumbs down) endorsement from the Committee. Partisan Candidates received a grade of 1 to 5 stars. Candidates who received 1 star were not very Libertarian and candidates who received 5 stars were very good in regards to their position on issues important to Libertarians.     Addendum A to Resolution to Reestablish Republican Unity and Principles Note: This addendum is attached to the Resolution to ensure clarity and justification for the claims and appeals made within the Resolution. Towards Integrity, Then Unity We, the Nevada Republican Central Committee make it known that we delayed presentation and publication of this Resolution until after the 2012 Presidential Election to unmistakably demonstrate support and respect for our Republican candidate. Unlike events at the 2012 Republican National Committee (RNC) Tampa Convention, we demand integrity and sincere unity in Republican Party affairs. The RNC silenced the delegates, and therefore, all Republicans, during the vote to accept the RNC Rules Committee Report, in violation of RNC Rules, specifically, our Preamble. The Preamble of our RNC Rules sets out a clear vision for the Party to function properly. The leadership of the Party exercised exceptionally poor judgment in their decision making, clearly violating that Preamble. As members of the Republican Party it is our duty to take actions necessary to ensure that our Party respects our rules. Specific Grievances 1) The report of the 2012 RNC Convention Rules Committee was not accepted properly. Legitimate cries of “Division” were heard, clearly requiring actions which were not taken (see Rules of the House of Representatives, Rule XX, 1. (a) Voting and Quorum Calls) 2) Therefore, Rule 40 (b) could not have been amended and the original requirement for five states remained the criteria. Considering this and that the RNC Secretary was handed candidate nomination forms in accordance with the rules, there should have been a nomination from the floor.

We also know that like many American immigrant groups, Latinos tend to reside in states where a critical mass of their community already is settled, in this case largely for geo-political reasons (e.g. New Mexico, Arizona, California, Texas, Florida and New York). Why, then, is Latino participation in national politics lower than white, Black, and Asian voters? And who has an interest in doing something about it? This project addresses several interrelated questions concerning the place of Latinos in American politics and the health of democracy in the United States. Political parties are meant to link citizens to the state. However, parties often fear that reaching out to certain groups may alienate the concerns of some core voters, providing a disincentive to political parties to prioritize Latino outreach. This thesis presents the first network analysis of relationships between federal political committees (n = 2,077) and the companies they hired for electoral digital political advertising services (n = 1,034) across 13 years (2003–2016) and three election cycles (2008, 2012, and 2016). The network expanded from 333 nodes in 2008 to 2,202 nodes in 2016. In 2012 and 2016, Facebook and Google had the highest normalized betweenness centrality (.34 and .27 in 2012 and .55 and .24 in 2016 respectively). Given their positions in the network, Facebook and Google should be considered consequential members of party networks. Of advertising agencies hired in the 2016 electoral cycle, 23% had no declared political specialization and were hired disproportionately by non-incumbents.   • Koch Industries Has Assets in Nevada, Drawn to the State by Natural Resources and Favorable Tax Policies
    KOCH RUSH IN THE SILVER STATE As Elvis might sing, Charles and David Koch “got a whole lot of money that’s ready to burn,” and, not to be outshone by fellow billionaire political donor and Las Vegas Sands Corporation CEO Sheldon Adelson, they’re using their resources to expand the reach of their industrial-political network across the Silver State. Koch Industries has assets in Nevada, drawn to the state by natural resources and favorable tax policies. Politically, The Koch brothers have long had a voice in Nevada through the State Policy Network’s Nevada Policy Research Institute (NPRI), and in recent years have sought to move more aggressively into the increasingly important early primary and swing state. The network’s expansion into Nevada includes partnerships with Adelson’s political team, as well as a new corporate location and extensive electoral work by Koch-funded front groups Americans for Prosperity, Concerned Veterans for America, and the LIBRE Initiative. The Kochs expanded their corporate empire into Nevada with their 2005 purchase of Georgia-Pacific, which maintains a facility in North Las Vegas focused on the manufacture of drywall. The company, whose North Las Vegas facility has spent several recent quarters in violation of the Clean Air Act, was the focus of lawsuits in 2009 when tainted drywall that affected homeowners throughout Nevada and the rest of the country was traced back to Georgia-Pacific, which eventually settled a lawsuit.
