JY = Jonathan Yaniv UW = Unnamed woman he's DM'ing on Twitter Time stamps are bolded when they mark the start of a new day. ____________________________________________________________________________________ [No time stamp appears at the beginning but the first time stamp to eventually appear shows a date of June 13, 2013] JY: hi UW: Hey JY: how are you? UW: good lol JY: can i ask u for some advice since ur from somewhere hot like texas lol UW: sure JY: Ok well I'm really sensitive to chlorine and i want to go to pools this summer. Before i used to go into pools wearing long pants and a shirt and that's so weird... so im wondering if it would be ok if i got a neutral one piece girls bathing suit? I looked at wet suits and they are awkward and expensive as heck.?? [frowny face] UW: Hahaha um best bet would probably takns and a short UW: sleeve surf top. My boyfriend is fat so he wears underarmor and trunks lol JY: That's what im doing and it doesn't help, i burn and rash so quickly UW: Hmmmm well then I'm not sure JY: could I get a one piece? UW: Like old school guys swim suit one piece? JY: like... JY: hold on 1 JY: [inserts an eBay link for a "training racing competition swimsuit, U.S., miss] UW: Lmao um probably not. I feel like your balls would hang out JY: should I try some on in a store? JY: brb UW: Haha sure JY: can I try them on in a store..and also if I like..what if it has a built in bra, or shelf bra or padding what do I do? can i get one without? what specific features should I look for? what do i tell the people in the store when i take them to the changing room??? UW: Um yes you can try it on. Most one pieces don't have a built in bra that I've seen since they are usually for swimmers and they need to be flat. Um features u have no idea. I've never worn a one piece past the age of 8. You don't tell the people in the store anything but fuck you if they try to stop you. JY: what colors should I look for? UW: Whatever color you want lol JY: what would you suggest? UW: Well usually get blue because its my favorite color JY: dark blue or light blue? JY: oh and will i look ok in a one piece? JY: or do I need to wear something over top? UW: I've never seen a guy in a one piece. I was thinking probably shorts with it. I mean unless you have nice legs I guess ha ha I had a guy friend wear women's underwear to a Halloween party and he rocked them JY: Why would i need to wear shorts? JY: ??? UW: I mean you don't have to. I just know i would if I wore one. I'll probably wear shorts with my bikini this summer. When you try it on you'll see. JY: I just won a trip to Las Vegas... literally just now. [See this and subsequent posts about Yaniv's winning a trip to the Sage Summit, July 28-31, 2014, scheming up a way to get a female companion for the trip, and then pestering women he met on the trip.] 2 UW: Wow that's awesome JY: All expenses paid UW: Wow you're lucky JY: and $500 spending cash [The amount is underlined and the screen shot shows it was a link to something.] UW: Woww JY: Ok now i seriously need a suit UW: Haha UW: Guess you better get shopping JY: Uhmmm how do you try on suits in a store JY: do all the clothes come off JY: or what UW: You're supposed to keep your underwear on JY: why UW: Its unhygienic not to JY: Do girls keep it on though JY: ?? JY: [emoji - sad?] UW: Yes lol JY: How many suit should i try on at the store and how much should i spend on a suit? UW: Now that's up to you. Last suit I bought was 5 years ago and I got it from walmart JY: should i buy a suit here, where i live..or in vegas? UW: Probably go ahead and get one before you go just be safe. Maybe just a cheap one. Then when you get there you might find a different one. JY: how much $$ is cheap? 3 UW: I haven't looked in so long. Walmarts probably cheapest JY: like what would you say in terms of a dollar amount JY: $20? UW: Yeah I guess. No more than $20. There's probably some for $10. JY: really? UW: Yeah but like I said its been 5 years since I've looked JY: Would it be a good idea to go with a friend whos a girl to the store to look at some and try some on? UW: Its always a good idea to bring a friend for advice and opinions JY: cause im going on a road trip with her on Wednesday JY: but how do i explain this to her? UW: Just tell her its what you want to wear because you feel like it'd make you more comfortable JY: do you think she'll be ok with it? UW: Just depends on the person JY: Well honestly, she knows i wear pads for another issue i have and she's totally ok with it.. just to give you an idea of how she is JY: she's perfectly fine with it and stuff JY: so what do you think? UW: Then I'm sure shell be fine with it JY: where would be a good place to look at some cheap ones.. walmart? UW: I'm broke so that's where I go lol JY: lol JY: Good luck in your swim suit search! JY: im looking lol [posts link to walmart page for krista d cup tankini camisole] JY: $20 JY: but 4 JY: it has cups [frowny face] JY: so what do i do UW: Seriously? That's weird. Keep looking for more. Because idk how well cutting out the cups would work JY: [posts link to a walmart page for 1pc-swimsuit] JY: or they have stuff like that UW: Yeah that's probably more what I would go with JY: With all the different colours? JY: theres something like this.. [posts link to a walmart page for Catalina women's sporty high neck one-piece swimsuit] JY: but thats in the states JY: but what should i do since the ones on Walmart Canada are like light colours? UW: idk look and see if there are more color options. Or just look at other places online JY: what about going into a store like Victoria's Secret? JY: could i? JY: gonna have lunch JY: ill ttyl UW: Those are gonna be pretty expensive and definitely have cups JY: ok ill brb, gonna have lunch [First time stamp appears: June 13, 2014 at 4:38 PM] JY: Do you think I'm weird if I wear a one piece UW: Maybe a little but who cares what I think. If its what you want to wear what anyone else thinks doesn't matter JY:: Would it be a good idea to wear shorts on top? And should I go for a multicoloured suit?? UW: I think yes to shorts. Whatever color you want is fine. 5 JY: Even if it's a girly light blue / light pink ??? UW: If that's the color you want JY: Well what colours would make it less obvious that it's girly JY: ?? UW: Blue, green, red UW: Black JY: dark though right? UW: Yes JY: ok JY: what do I tel people if i wear one and they ask me why im in a girls suit UW: Just tell them its what you wanted to wear. My boyfriend said to say you lost a bet. But I don't think you should do that JY: lol lost a bet. UW: Yeahhh. I wouldn't do that though JY: me either lol [Time stamp: June 13, 2014 at 6:42 pm] JY: do you know what swimsuit rash guards are? [Time stamp: June 13, 2014 at 7:49 pm] JY: [sad face emoji] JY: What should I tell my friend when I go out to look at them? Should i ask her to pick some out for me? Or what should we do UW: Yeah pick out some and ask her to pick out a few too JY: Like, what should I tell her in the car? Like, so we will go in the store to try some... UW: I'm like super drunk right now so IRS probably not a good time for qquestions JY: oh [sad face emoji] ok 6 [Time stamp: June 14, 2014 at 3:57 pm] JY: They have ones where you can put boob cups in but I can't find a flat one JY: For mastectomy JY: Is that what I need? One for mastectomy? [Time stamp: June 14, 2014 at 6:32 pm] UW: I guess JY: it had a bit of padding though, is that ok or not? UW: That's up to you JY: how would i even ask to try it on UW: You just take it to the changing room.

  • Asheville, Tenth Month 2009
Southern Appalachian Young Friends Epistle Asheville October, 2009 This weekend was amazing. Everything from the maze to the tacos and the dancing was great. I hadn’t really heard of the Jerk until now but its really fun, even though I can barely do it yet. I got more sleep this retreat than most which is good and I wish we could all just stay here and not go back to school. I missed the last one so this time I got to see a lot of 2bies who had come to the last one. Jacob and Xavier’s dancing was great lo,=) I had fun talking with Heather and Chantal is really awesome. Anyway, I hope the November one is just as good and everyone and more comes. ~ Emanuel Huber Feely SAYF was fun this weekend. For me it was a relaxing weekend compared to my first retreat. This is my second and I feel like you all are like family to me. Although I was betrayed four times by a certain someone and once by another certain someone I forgive them. But watch your backs next time I come here. I will have revenge! I love you guys. You take me away from the real world and put me in a world where everyone’s happy and always having fun. To Chrissy I love you and thanks for allowing me to tag along again. To Santha thanks for my neck-a-lace. To Katie thanks for hugs. And to everyone else thanks for accepting me. I still cannot write passive aggressive haikus but I wrote a pretty beasty poem.

  • Rhythms of Relation: Black Popular Music and Mobile Technologies
Rhythms of Relation: Black Popular Music and Mobile Technologies Alexander G. Weheliye In this essay I focus on the singular performances of the interface between (black) subjectivity and informational technologies in popular music, ask- ing how these performances impact current definitions of the technologi- cal. After a brief examination of those aspects of mobile technologies that gesture beyond disembodied communication, I turn to the multifarious manifestations of techno-informational gadgets (especially cellular/mobile telephones) in contemporary R&B, a genre that is acutely concerned, both in content and form, with the conjuring of interiority, emotion, and affect. The genre’s emphasis on these aspects provides an occasion to analyze how technology thoroughly permeates spheres that are thought to represent the hallmarks of humanist hallucinations of humanity. I outline the extensive and intensive interdependence of contemporary (black) popular music and mobile technologies in order to ascertain how these sonic formations refract communication and embodiment and ask how this impacts rul- ing definitions of the technological. The first group of musical examples surveyed consists of recordings released between 1999 and 2001; the sec- ond set are recordings from years 2009–2010. Since ten years is almost an eternity in the constantly changing universes of popular music and mobile technologies, analyzing the sonic archives from two different historical moments allows me to stress the general co-dependence of mobiles and music without silencing the breaks that separate these “epochs.” Finally, I gloss a visual example that stages overlooked dimensions of mobile tech- nologies so as to amplify the rhythmic flow between the scopic and the sonic.

  • A Framework for Researching Media Influence in Language Change
Journal of Sociolinguistics 18/2, 2014: 185–212 FOCUS ARTICLE The mediated innovation model: A framework for researching media influence in language change1 Dave Sayers Sheffield Hallam University and Swansea University, United Kingdom Linguistic innovations that arise contemporaneously in highly distant locations, such as quotative be like, have been termed ‘global linguistic variants’. This is not necessarily to suggest fully global usage, but to invoke more general themes of globalisation vis-a-vis space and time. This research area has grown steadily in the last twenty years, and by asserting a role for mass media, researchers have departed intrepidly from sociolinguistic convention. Yet they have largely relied on quite conventional socio- linguistic methodologies, only inferring media influence post hoc. This methodological conservatism has been overcome recently, but uncertainty remains about the overall shape of the new epistemological landscape. In this paper, I review existing research on global variants, and propose an epistemological model for researching media influence in language change: the mediated innovation model. I also analyse the way arguments are constructed in existing research, including the use of rhetorical devices to plug empirical gaps – a worthy sociolinguistic topic in its own right.

MTC PRESENTS TREY SONGZ LIVE IN CONCERT Start// Windhoek 23 March 2015 - In what will be recorded in history as Namibia’s best international show to date, MTC will present Trey Songz live in concert in Windhoek on the 30th May at the Independence Stadium. Trey Songz Biography: Over the past ten years, no one has better blended the sounds of hip-hop and R&B and pop better than the Grammy-nominated international superstar TREY SONGZ. And now for 2014, after dozens of hits, and more than 20 million albums & singles sold, his next album has arrived…TRIGGA, Put your hands in the air if you’re loving tonight…. With TRIGGA, Trey Songz has found the true meaning behind his music and prepared his most intimate album yet. The album is an honest and courageous set of songs that will solidify his bond with an adoring fan base who have been open ever since he exclaimed “I gotta make it!” TRIGGA extends the legacy of I GOTTA MAKE IT (2004), TREY DAY (2007), READY (2009), PASSION, PAIN & PLEASURE (2010) and the triumphant #1 RIAA Gold-Certified album CHAPTER V (2012). • PRAISE for the FUTURE of HAPPINESS
PRAISE for THE FUTURE OF HAPPINESS “Volumes have been written about how bad technology can be for us, but Amy Blankson is the first author I’ve seen to lay out a simple, achievable path to explain how to stay grounded and balanced in the digital era.” —Laszlo Bock, former head of people operations at Google and bestselling author of Work Rules! “Too often, the concept of personal happiness is left out of discussions about technology and the future of our world. The Future of Happiness is a timely reminder about the importance of happiness, meaning, and our fragile, promising selves.” —Susan Cain, author of Quiet: The Power of Introverts in a World That Can’t Stop Talking “The Future of Happiness gave me tactical tips in the first few minutes and a genuinely happier life by the end. In an age of endless interruptions, this book couldn’t have arrived at a better time.” —Neil Pasricha, New York Times bestselling author of The Happiness Equation and The Book of Awesome “I believe that virtually all of us on this planet are struggling with two core issues: how to feel happier every day and how to balance technology so we’re not overrun or dehumanized by it. Rather than fighting against the digital movement, we need higher-level help to harness it for our greatest joy, success, connection, and fulfillment. Amy’s book is the per- fect pathway to this—offering amazing new strategies to help us access more joy and meaning while at the same time leveraging the power of technology to enhance and enrich our lives.
